FLOWERS - SPRING STARFLOWER

Wishing you all

A Very Happy First Day of the Month.

These were growing like a carpet in a lot of yards 200 miles south of here. A very pretty flower, identified as Spring Starflower, also known as Starlikes and Mexican star (Ipheion uniforum).

It is a low-growing, hardy perennial bulb native to South America, specifically Argentina and Uruguay.

Often one of the first signs of spring, it produces dainty, star-shaped flowers that emit a sweet, honey-like fragrance.

A very pretty flower! I usually see violets growing in the grass instead of these, a very welcome sight too.

Thanks for stopping by and as always,
I hope your day is a great one.

    1. They are pretty, it’s been a while since I was in that area. I wonder if they are still growing profusely. I haven’t seen them up here at all.

  5. I don’t think I have ever seen this flower. Very pretty it is, too, I will certainly be keeping an eye out for violets. Yesterday, on my walk, I saw Coltsfoot, almost always the first flower along woodland paths.

  10. Spring here is slowly showing. We had a good rain yesterday. Much needed as we are still in drought even after all our snow. Only a few crocus so far in bloom.

  23. I'm a day behind but glad I stopped by because those beautiful spring flowers made me smile. We have some April showers right now, but I'm hoping we don't have to wait for May until spring flowers come from the rain. I hope it was a super start to the new month.
