ODDS AND BODS - HOW DO YOU START YOUR DAY?

Good Morning

How do you start your day? Mine begins with one cup of black coffee. No more than one cup each day, but...

I know I drank the whole pot of coffee!!!!!!!!
        WHY!!!

Well, there I go, talking to the squirrels again. Too much coffee? However, this one tickled my funny bone. I just can't convince my dear other half to move into the woods. He already says I'm talking to the squirrels. Very true!
The older I get, the more I understand why people
live in the woods and talk to squirrels.

The world will adjust, be you and remember...

You don’t need to fix everything today.
Just be kind to yourself.

All you have to do is look in the mirror
and smile. Squirrel decided to join in.
My coffee and I are debating if we feel like joining today's events.
Newspaper headline: "Give someone a reason to smile."

Dont forget that...

Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.

More wise words…

It’s okay to…not know it all…make mistakes…
have hard days…be yourself…ask for help.

A good way to ease into the day is put some music on, or if you are one of the lucky ones, play your own.

It’s time to show you today’s dream cottage. Open the gate and knock on the door.

We can have tea and crumpets by the fire.

When you are feeling a little upside down, conversation and a cup of tea will do you a world of good.

You can share your decorating tips and I will share mine. So what if the paint is peeling?

We won’t be bothered about that paintwork soon. We will be out in the garden picking spring flowers.

Word time!
Apricity (n.) The warmth of the sun in winter - origin: Latin.

Or

Wifty (adj.) someone who is slightly eccentric,
scatterbrained or a bit absent-minded; might seem
a little dreamy, distracted or whimsical, often
lost in their own thoughts.

A smoothie anyone?
Strawberry-Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothy

creamy and smooth. Serve chilled with toppings.

Or how about this?

Easy Sponge Cake in a Mug - ready in 5-minutes
Ingredients: 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar - 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg - 2 tablespoons milk - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

sugar and baking powder. 2. Add egg, milk, oil and vanilla.
3. Microwave on high for 1 minute 30 seconds - times may vary.
Soft, airy sponge cake in minutes - no oven needed!

Note: I haven’t tried these two recipes, but they are on my list.

Time to finish this post.

It’s a new dawn, a new day…hope yours is sprinkled with
A little dilly dallying and lollygagging (and from me, we
could all do with a little break from being busy at times).

May your day begin with a giggle in your wiggle, and
End with a pep in your step.

I wish you Peace and always remember…

You are appreciated and Loved.

The world is much brighter because you exist.

Thanks for stopping by.
I think we can all do with some of this.
Sending you love and a big hug.

(My thanks to Pinterest for the inspiration.)

  2. These are lovely, Denise and I particularly love the cat upside down.
Don't drink much coffee down here at my house though I do have my coffee machine which I do use. My first thing to eat and drink in the morning is my toast and tea and only have one cup usually a day, then I drink water.

    1. Thank you Margaret :) I thought the upside down cat was precious and glad you enjoyed it. I am a water drinker also, have been since a child. I would rather drink water than a soda. I have a rare one when it is offered, but don’t like the taste too much.

  3. I am addicted to Pintrest! I cannot wait to try the cake recipe. I have just printed it and will make it soon. The cottage and giant flowers are all gorgeous! A proper English cottage! And the couch inside, it is almost exactly like ours in the basement! I love the new words, just hope I can remember at least one!

    1. They have some wonderful thoughts and images on there, don’t they Ginny? :) I will try that cake sometime, and the smoothie. I always seem to enjoy the recipes I see on Pinterest, and love anything on English Cottages and flowers. Words are fun to read and find out about. I like to refresh my memory by coming back to them on here.

  4. Love it all. What a fun post. I always start my day with a cup of coffee as well but I have to use creamer and one packet of artificial sweetener.

  7. I have two cups with cream, one immediately after waking. The second might be an hour or even two hours later. There are games, blogs, reading bits of news on Bluesky but mostly just passing by, not it depth.

  9. Funny! I start my mornings now by taking out a puppy to go do her business and then make coffee and play with said puppy until she falls asleep.
We go out and take a morning walk and enjoy the smells of the world.
Squirrels were put on this earth for doggies to chase!

  17. ~Dear Denise :)
A lovely post Denise with so much humour and delightful images. An all round feel good read. I start the morning with a mug of tea and then I feed the birds so that I can watch them whilst I eat my Weetabix in bed. I only drink a small cup of coffee every day after lunch.
Thank you Denis for a much needed enjoyable boost to my day.

  18. I loved everything. I love the photos you pick from Pinterest too. I like the sayings. I like squirrels if they stay OUTSIDE. I drink one cup of coffee every day too - but I have cream in mine. I know I am wifty. And I loved the upside down cat.

  19. We do really really need the smiles and joy these days -- thank you. I usually start my day with some word games on my IPAD whilst waiting for the coffee to brew and my breakfast companion to wake up :)..... unfortunately, I get dings on said IPAd from news sources which I do not want to read at that point (or at all really, but feel like I should). I need an ipad that only has games and happy blogs on it! ))
