I have been going through my old blog and found photos from a family group trip we took to France in the summer of 2014. We stayed in Paris for a few nights and then moved onto Normandy.
This is a place I was drawn to, just down the road from our hotel. We passed by every day while we were in Paris. It is the Fontaine Saint-Michel at the Place Saint-Michel (1858 to1860). It depicts the Archangel Saint Michael slaying the dragon. You can click on all the links for more information.
I took a quick shot of the Gendarmes making their rounds.
The Notre Dame Cathedral and the River Seine.
The two of us.
There are pedicab cycles for a tour around Paris, or you can rent your own electric bicycle.
One of the many restaurants we passed by where we had a meal. I can't remember much of it except that it was a crepe and I am sure it must have been delicious.
It is a city I have always wanted to go back to but haven't made it yet. Life has slowed down for us quite a bit these days, but it's fun to look back at these photos.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great day.
Beautiful photos, Denise. We have a Notre Dame Cathedral here in Old Montreal. This is where Celine Dion got married. It is also the place where her husband's funeral took place.I enjoyed this post and your memories very much, dear friend 🧡
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Linda, I will look up the one in Old Montreal. Thank you for sharing that :)
DeleteI love the dragon fountain! And what a splendid photo of the two of you! I especially like the first Paris creation you made with the doves and cab!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny, so kind of you :) the photo was one I found online so can’t claim it. Glad you liked it though.
DeleteLovely to see these photos of your trip back in 2014. Always good to look back at photos and share, Denise.
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed them Margaret. It certainly is :)
DeleteOur memories are treasures.
ReplyDeleteVery much so, thank you Cloudia :)
DeleteEach day is a blessing 🙏🏽
ReplyDeleteYes it is :)
DeleteThat's the great thing about photos: they can take you back to places you haven't been to for a long time.
ReplyDeleteVery true and it is always fun looking at them :)
DeleteParis has a way of leaving you longing to return
ReplyDeleteIt would have been nice to revisit but these days I am happy that I at least saw it :)
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos from Paris, you have some great trip memories.
Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thank you Eileen, we certainly do. I wish you a very happy week :)
DeleteLife slows down for all of us, Denise, so these photographic memories take on extra significance. My closest association with Paris in recent years has been to make connecting flights at Charles de Gaulle International Airport. That hardly qualifies as a visit!
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed David and very true :) It must have been an interesting trip you took.
DeleteWhat a fabulous trip this must have been. I love seeing the architecture. so impressive
ReplyDeleteIt was Ann, I am glad we had the opportunity to:)
DeleteThank you for your beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteParis is a dream –
good thing I've been there before.
It's so lovely to fall in love with, isn't it?
You are very welcome and thank you :) very much so and so glad you experienced the city yourself.
DeleteLovely to revisit through your photographs. Like most cities these days, it's probably overwhelmed with tourists. (I'm such a Job's comforter.)
ReplyDeleteJob's comforter no, just stating how it is, and I remember that from when I was a tourist there :) It is an awesome city and everyone wants to see it at least once in their lifetime.
DeleteWspaniała podróż i piękne wspomnienia. Udanego tygodnia:)
ReplyDeleteDziękuję bardzo! To był dla mnie wspaniały czas. Życzę Ci dalszego udanego tygodnia.
DeleteIt seems like a great memory. When we do something out of the ordinary, that time seems to stand out form the rest.
ReplyDeleteVery true :)
DeleteGreat photos. Been to Paris a few times. :-D
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Ananka! I would love to see it again, who knows, maybe I will :)
DeleteIt is fun to look back with you. Great photos. I've never been to Paris and I don't expect to ever be there in the future, either. I can enjoy it through your photos.
ReplyDeleteSweet of you to say Ellen, thank you so much! It certainly is very nice traveling through others' photos. I always feel how fortunate I am to do that through my friends' travels.
DeleteI love the way you said, an old trip to Paris, like everyone does this, ho hum. ha ha that is only the way I saw it... all that beauty and fond memories. I have never been out of the USA
ReplyDeleteWell, you made me smile Sandra. Going to Paris from where I lived way back, it was approximately 494 miles. We would have had to cross the British Channel but even though we were a lot closer, I never went there back in those days. If we drove the same distance from where I live, it would take us down to Atlanta, Georgia. This was a family trip with about a dozen of us that I was happy to be part of :)
DeleteI loved Paris, nice memories!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that it gave you some wonderful memories from your visit Christine :)
DeleteA wonderful trip, in real life and in memory. It's a beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, it certainly is :)
DeleteNever been there and don't know if I'll ever make that trip.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime we can travel virtually, which I one of my favorite things to do :)
DeleteHaving the photos can bring so much of the trip back to you. Don't you just love the digital cameras these days!? Especially that you can have one right in your phone...and have a phone you can carry in your pocket! What an amazing world we live in, eh?
ReplyDeleteHi Rita, and it did and yes I do! I am happy that technology got us to this point. Sending film away for a week or two, I remember waiting for my holiday photos to come back and it was always very exciting when that package dropped through the mailbox. Now it's all instantaneous, amazing! I still haven't gotten over the novelty of that and this is only the tip of the iceberg. It is an amazing world we live in, you're right.
DeleteI like the wings on the creature. Shooting wings is fun.
ReplyDeleteThose old statues are marvelous aren't they? :) I would love to see what you could do with your skills in Paris.
DeleteThank you for saying that. I think your shots, ROCK!
DeleteBless you my friend, you know how to make this old gal feel good :)
DeleteI've been to Paris twice. Once was a wonderful trip. The second...not so much. So I best leave it alone and not go again. Although your photos do make it look like fun!:)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm sorry to hear that second trip was not so good Jennifer. I'm glad you enjoyed my photos though. Virtual traveling is a great way to go.
DeleteI have not been to Paris but I would love to go one day. I hope that you had lots of happy memories of when you visited.
ReplyDeleteWe did and are thankful, thank you Beverley :)
DeletePura belleza en tus imágenes. Me encanta las vistas de la catedral.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
Muchas gracias, agradezco tus amables palabras. ¡Que tengas una feliz semana! :)
DeleteDenise you take very good photos. I enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteI was in Paris in 1968 with a group of 50 girls....It was during the student riots cars being turned over crazy time...
We were supposed to stay in Paris 4 days. Chaperones got us in at dark. Got us up before sunrise we had breakfasts at Whimpy's then up to the top the Eiffel Tower at sunrise that was spectacular. We spent more time in Italy and England
Hugs Cecilia
Wow! That does sound like a crazy time. I bet you have a lot of stories to tell :) Seeing the sunrise at the top of the Eiffel Tower must have been incredible. Thank you for sharing your memories Cecilia. Sending hugs!
DeleteI've visited France a few times but never Paris!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post a lovely look back.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan, and how nice that you saw a lot more of France :) All the best to you too :)
DeleteBellas fotos de Paris, te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGracias, agradezco mucho tus amables comentarios. Te mando un beso :)
DeleteIt’s been two decades since I went to Paris. It’s an incredible city.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, I'm happy you got to enjoy it :)
DeleteIncredible city, the whole city is like a living museum!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Denise!!
Travel gives us memories for our whole lives.
I hope you come back some day!!
That is very true Katerina, it is like a living museum :) Beautifully worded! Thank you and I hope so too.
DeleteWe have nit visited Paris together, but many (too many) years ago I was a solo visitor on a tour that included London and Rome but have dim memories of all 3 cities. Thanks for sharing yiur memories, Denise. It may be time for some new ones😀 with a return visit…for myself and you.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you and Patrick visited on one of your next overseas trips Dorothy. It would be so much fun to read about your trip. I'm looking forward to visiting after this latest one you took :)
