In a meadow green and serene,
Stood a wooden fence so quaint,
Where wildflowers danced in hues unseen,
And nature's charm seemed ever faint.
A pretty cow of beige and white,
Gazed over the fence with eyes so bright,
Her gentle face, a peaceful sight,
A countryside beauty in morning light.
Below the fence, a woolly sheep,
Peeked curiously, not making a peep,
With kind eyes that held stories deep,
Of fields where dreams and wonders sleep.
Together they stood, a pastoral pair,
Amidst wildflowers blooming rare,
In harmony, without a care,
Their friendship a sight beyond compare.
With the oak tree casting its shadowy lace,
And the forest whispering its embrace,
The cow and sheep found their place,
In a scene of nature’s gentle grace.
I have more company coming, an overnight stay. Continuing with yesterday’s theme, we have been catching up on cleaning this week and Gregg is a great partner in this. However, my OCD kicks in at such times. It certainly helps with our downsizing project, helps with the motivation. I can't do as much as I would like to any more but as Gregg reminds me, they are not here to inspect the condition of our home and besides, that's what locks on the door are for. Throw everything into the spare room and start again when things are quiet. Grinning from ear to ear here!
Thank you my Dear Knight in Shining Armor who has just painted the laundry room closet and put together a new shelf unit which fits neatly inside. Amazingly it is already full of things I have wanted to tuck away from sight and sound, things we still use but not quite as much (kitchen counter tops are relatively free and clear). We are continuing our clearing out of things to take down to the local church - clothes, old kitchen appliances, old pots and pans, all decent to the eye and still working but we won’t use anymore, and probably never will. They will hopefully do someone some good. We have named this year our downsizing year - it's time!
Thanks for all the visits and comments. Always enjoy reading them.
I will be catching up with you all again next week.

Denise, love ❤️ the images. Gregg is right, people are not coming to inspect your home, they are coming to see you. Love and hugs 🫂 to you, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Linda, thank you for telling me that. Yes, he's right and so are you. Thank you dear friend and sending love and hugs :)
DeleteWhat a lovely poem. I especially like the part about the sheep's eyes. I have been trying a bit, but it is so hard to downsize! Sounds like you are doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Ginny! Yes, I can relate to what you say entirely, so hard! We are trying though and now our company has left, we will be restarting :)
DeleteEnjoy your company and have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue, we had a love time and a lovely weekend. I hope you did too :)

DeleteYour verse captures the quiet magic of the countryside with such warmth and grace.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roentare, I think you may have the soul of a poet yourself :)
DeleteLovely poem.
ReplyDeleteCleaning things out - great idea and it has to be done every now and again.
Have a lovely time with your guests.
Take care Denise.
Totally agree Margaret, we had a lovely time thank you. It always goes too quickly no matter how long the length of the stay. You take care too :)
DeleteEnjoy your visiting company. I'm sure they won't be looking in drawers and cupboards to see what you've hidden!! 😉
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice! The weekend is almost over and our company has left :) What you say is very true :)
DeleteWhen I visit someone’s home that last thing on my mind would be to criticize the fact that it looks as though they live in it!
ReplyDeleteWise words David, I appreciate them very much. Thank you!
DeleteIt’s the same drill here when visitors are coming, whether overnight or not, Denise. Gregg has the right attitude and good luck with the continued downsizing. I am doing the same by donating a few things at a time. As soon as even a few are collected, they are immediately taken to a local thrift store. Keeping things around longer could mean reconsidering whether or not to donate.
ReplyDeleteVery true my dear friend :) and thank you very much! You tackle your downsizing wisely.
DeleteHave a good time with your guests and relax yourself too, Denise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, I appreciate that very much :)
DeleteLove the cute cow and sheep and the poem!
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day and a happy weekend!
That's great Eileen, so glad :) You take care too and as the weekend is almost over, I will wish you a very happy week!
DeleteOur downsizing year was a few years ago. When I think back on it, I can't believe all that "stuff" fit inside our house. Felt so good to get rid of it. Enjoy your company, Denise. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! We're in that frame of mind right now, can't believe we have all that stuff in the house. A lot of it moved around with us on the many moves we made years ago :) Thank you Andrea, we had a great time :) xoxo
DeleteTeż postanowiłam zrobić porządki i pozbyć się zbędnych rzeczy. Życzę dużo uśmiechu i siły :) Dobrego weekendu:)
ReplyDeleteDziękuję bardzo za miłe słowa. Bardzo je doceniam! :)
DeleteEnjoy your company. (I find company fun but so very stressful!) But they are there to see you, not judge!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanie, we had a very enjoyable time with them :) Very true what you say and I do realize this but it's good to hear all the same. Thank you so much!
DeleteGregg is a winner winner with this sentence," Throw everything into the spare room and start again when things are quiet. Grinning from ear to ear here!' I say fix him a chicken dinner.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
