RANDOM PHOTO

"The best way to observe a fish is to become a fish."
~Jacques Yves Cousteau~

A reminder of warmer climes. The only thing I remember about this, is that I took the photo of what I thought was a very pretty embossed tile in a restaurant, the name of which I have long forgotten.  I liked it a lot, loved it in fact.  I looked for something similar but was unsuccessful.   At least I have my photo.  I added the frame in Paint Shop Pro.

I have sent parcels off (thanks to our son who delivered them to the post office the week before last), along with cards and letters for family and friends to receive before the 25th.  Several started arriving at our house a couple of weeks ago.  Thank you family and friends!  I still love getting snail mail.

The days are ticking right along.  I am going to have to push myself out the door as the weather gets colder. As long as it isn’t raining or snowing, I don't really mind the cold as long as I am bundled up. I am a winter person. One of the many things I love about this season, is getting the sweaters out, along with the woolly hats, scarfs and gloves.

I also enjoy a neighborhood walk in the evenings, and smelling the wood from fireplaces, seeing wisps of smoke floating out the chimneys.  It is fun to look at the twinkling lights of Christmas trees showing through the windows.  There seem to be more decorations in people’s front yards this year.  When we get back inside the house chilled to the bone, I make a cup of hot cocoa topped off with sweetened whipped cream and marshmallows.  It is a winter treat looked forward to.

Wishing you your own winter treats out there, and take very good care of yourselves.

  1. It is pretty! I have never seen anything quite like it. I like your choice of frame. I don't mind the cold as much if there is no WIND, brrrr...

    1. Thanks Ginny :) And perhaps I should have added if the wind is so mind-numbing that tears come to my eyes, then I wouldn't be outside. I class that with icy rain. I do remember walking home in a blizzard once when I was 21. That definitely was not fun! Dad was driving, we had both been at work all day and when we were half way our car got stuck in the snow, as did many other cars.

  4. I love that painting, it's beautiful and what a wonderful job you did putting the frame around it - well done. I too have Paintshop Pro, so old now but still works.
The cold, my too many clothes for me that you wear, but I suppose to keep warm outside that is what's needed.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Margaret, nice to meet a fellow Paintshop Pro user. Mine is pretty old too. The lover of winter woollies I grew up with as we had four seasons growing up in the UK. I also remember smog :)

  6. I am a winter person too, but not your kind of winter. I love Florida winter. as in today we woke up to 50 wonderful cool degrees, bright sunshine. a brisk walk with Beau, who is energized by the lack of FL heat... i don't even own a coat, have 2 sweaters that are 15 and 20 years old because they get worn 6 times a year only.. no scarves, gloves or hats here. and I love it.. you are in the right place for your winter love... this tile is stunning, i love it

    1. Thanks Sandra and 50 degrees does sound wonderful :) but have a hard time with our humidity, let alone that of Florida. We are enjoying our own climates I think.

How lovely that you can take walks in the evening, and enjoy the decorations of others. We are not sure on our feet anymore, and would not try to do this. I love it, that you can though...

    1. Thank you BB, we do enjoy our walks but we have very well lit street lights so it's not a problem, yet :) I will definitely take photos of our Christmas walk. We will be waiting about a week before the 25th so we can be sure to get more of them.

  12. That added Photoshop frame worked perfect in picking up the colors from the original image, Denise. Your evening walks sound very nice. Living in the city, we don't see many residences but have noticed them in the apts across the river. And we have noticed more lawn decorations on our supermarket trips.
