OUR WEEKEND

I am sharing one of the pictures from a puzzle I completed recently. It has a whimsical look to it which I enjoy.  A couple of years back I downloaded the puzzle program on my iPad.  I have a couple of actual puzzles still in their boxes and still in their wrapping.   It seems a good opportunity, the right time, to enjoy them so that’s next.

Saturday our day was spent pottering around the house.   Our son called up and we had about an hour catching up.  We texted with family members and friends throughout the day.  I made more headway on decorating the Christmas tree and am always delighted unwrapping the ornaments after not seeing them since last Christmas.  Many have been given to us over the years and those hold great sentimental value. They always bring a smile and start a conversation of remember when.  I also treated myself to a new one, a snowman.  Our tree is eclectic with no particular theme.  I found the frame online which included the snow globe. The app is called Photo Collage and it was very easy to add the photo of my snowman.
A few more Christmas cards arrived, some with round robin letters along with personal notes from people we haven’t seen in years.  They live in various parts of the US, in Canada and across the pond.  All are hanging in there.  We are all in the same boat, using the same paddle, rowing up the same river so to speak,  and it is very strange that we are in that very same boat together. We can understand what we are all dealing with more than ever before.  Thankfully it is a whole lot easier to stay connected these days isn’t it?

Sunday was another quiet day but one we enjoyed.  Tidying up a little, putting more ornaments on the tree (I’m getting there if ever so slowly), on the computer getting out even when I am inside, looking at the last two gifts I have to wrap up and give (tomorrow’s job), and we spent part of the afternoon in the kitchen preparing dinner.  It turned out not so bad but not so good either, so I won’t be putting it on here unless we can tweak it to our own taste.  It was very bland and I am a bland taste kind of a person, and it was too bland for me.  The fun was in making it, and then we made our suggestions how to make it better next time, so not complaining at all.

Monday our son came over and that was the highlight of our weekend.  We remained in three corners of the room.  He is very careful when he goes about his daily routine.  He works from his home so being around a lot of people is not an issue.  We air-hugged!  Our daughter-in-law was giving piano lessons on FaceTime but hope to see her soon.  I finished decorating the Christmas tree and he put the angel on the top.  He is 6 feet 4 inches, taller than his Dad and me, so it was an easy task for him and no step ladders were involved.  We had a meal together and talked on just about everything.  I wrapped those last two gifts and they will be ready to go tomorrow.  Had a text chat with my niece over the pond, always love that.  She sent me photos of her sheepies as we call them.
I finished another puzzle online.  Still haven't opened up my box puzzle yet.  Maybe in the next few days.

Looks like we are going to be getting snow here on Wednesday, about a foot deep.  It rained hard last night and it might start snowing tonight.

That was our weekend and although we didn't go anywhere, it was very enjoyable.  I hope yours was too.  Thanks for stopping by.

  6. so glad you could visit with your son, and I know how much a tall son can help... mine are 6'2'' and 6'5''. i love the look of both puzzles, so festive. the second one would be a great card.. I wish I could decorate in pieces, as in put the tree up and wait and do the decorating a little at a time. my OCD will not let me. what ever I do, I can't stop until it is done... I once said I am going to paint one wall each day, in the two bedrooms. bob came home from work and both were painted and new curtains hung.

    1. You gave me a chuckle about your OCD, I have spells of those too but insomnia took care of that for the most part.

  10. Hi Denise,
Hope you and yours have a very Happy Christmas and all stay well clear of Covid, love your puzzle image and your snowman. Its so good to decorate the tree and we likewise have decorations that have pride of place due to age and sentimental value.#
    Stay safe,
    John

    1. Thank you John! I have two trees, one small for the family room and a larger one for the front room in front of the windows. I always enjoy seeing our neighborhood trees decorated when walking along the sidewalk. I think this year we will leave the small one in its resting place but I still have a few decorations to make that room festive. Happy Christmas and you both stay safe and healthy also.

  12. I enjoyed hearing about your delightful weekend, Denise. Sounds lovely to have your son come and visit and help finish your Christmas tree. The puzzles are beautiful. We enjoy working puzzles when the weather turns cold. Such a satisfying pastime. Stay safe and warm during your snow. We aren't expecting as much as you.
