November comes and November goes,
With the last red berries and the first white snows.
With night coming early and dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket and frost by the gate.
The fires burn and the kettle sing,
And earth sinks to rest until next Spring.
~Clyde Watson~
A lovely poem - though not at all true of November here.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC, no November weather the way I think of November for you :) I would say roll on spring but I love this time of the year, when there is a bit of a nip in the air and the smell of wood smoke in the neighborhood.
DeleteI know this poem! I really like it, too. And you paired it with the perfect picture. Sad to see it already dark when a little store is open.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny, I took this photo on our way back from a road trip last week.
DeleteI was just laughing to myself when I read this poem as November for me has just started. Have a wonderful weekend Denise.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, it is in the low 50s today and beautifully sunny.
DeleteI like this poem, Denise. Fortunately the white snow hasn't arrived here and my personal wish is that it doesn't bother. Pretty, yes; inconvenient, yes. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, no snow here yet either, though I did see some flurries shown one day next week. Snow is great when you don't have to get anywhere :)
Deletelove the poem and the last line is my favorite. and earth sinks to rest until next spring. I think the earth is hibernating… of course that doesn't fit down here
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, he certainly had a way with the word. No, I would imagine your weather is just about perfect right now :)
DeleteHello, pretty November poem and image. Have a happy day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, thank you and you too :)
DeleteThis poem certainly picks up the November mood. I have the white snows now as it snowed yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red, stay warm up there :)
DeleteQuite appropriate for this time of year. And it fits the shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks William :)
DeleteAhh...time to get cosy and settle in with a cup of hot tea!
ReplyDeleteHeading for the tea kettle right now Sandi :)
DeleteHi Denide,
ReplyDeleteWonderful words and very true, we have had the first snow but farther North than us, I can't wait for the earth to stop resting and the Spring arrive.
All the best, John
Hi John, thank you and Spring will be here in a blink of an eye the way the time is flying :)
DeleteNovember has come so quickly this Autumn, Denise. This poem speaks to the many changes we have in store. Thanks for sharing. ♥
ReplyDeleteIt has hasn't it Martha Ellen? You are very welcome, glad you enjoyed :)
DeleteWondering if I'll be resting until next Spring, too. :)
ReplyDeleteEllen, hi, I hope you get some rest between now and Spring :)
DeleteThe whole year seems to be going faster and faster why does time go faster as we get older!! Cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane, we were just saying that the other day. I can't believe it is November already. Cheers to you too :)
DeleteDenise, Clyde Watson present some vivid images for one to ponder. Thanks you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Doug, he certainly did and you are very welcome :)
DeleteLoved reading those words from Clyde Watson.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Glad you enjoyed Jan, all the best to you too.
DeleteAutumn is my favorite season and November seems to be the single month it's celebrated. Sad that darkness comes so early in the evening now with daylight savings time. Snow doesn't bother me as we have nowhere we need to get to and indoor parking as well :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Autumn too Dorothy and I feel the same way about snow :)
