I am having trouble with my laptop so it has gone in to be fixed. I do have my iPad but it is very tricky to add photos to my blog, and very frustrating. (If you have any advice I would be very happy to learn something new.) Anyhow, I found a post that I never got round to publishing from earlier in the year. Have a great weekend everyone and thanks again for visiting.
These are the last few photos from Gettysburg.
This is a statue of Abner Doubleday. For years we had thought that he was the man who invented baseball, but this apparently wasn't so and was a myth. However, he was a career US Army officer and Union general in the American Civil War. As I read at Wikipedia, he fired the first shot in defense of Fort Sumter, the opening battle of the war, and had a pivotal role in the early fighting at the Battle of Gettysburg. You can read more about him here.
The other photos were taken quickly because of the bitter cold that day. I didn't hang around to make any more notes. We resolved to visit again in the warmer months. These were taken on Sunday, April 8th, 2018.
Beautiful skies but we hurried back to the car as we were slowly turning into popsicles.
a beautiful place to visit. I have never tried to do a post on a tablet, only on laptop or desktop. so no help from me.. hope it gets back to you soon
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra :). I am thinking I just have to be patient.
DeleteThe cold seems a long time ago now, but it will be here again soon! Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeletemy only advice on trying to post from an iPad is - don't try, it's too hard. that's it!!!
Thanks Debbie, that is the general feeling I am getting.
DeleteI would love to spend time at Gettysburg. Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteI would suggest that until the computer issues are sorted, it might well be easier to just go into a public library to use a computer in order to set up posts.
Thank you William and thank you also about the library tip. If I don’t get my laptop back by then, that’s what I will do.
DeleteNo I woudl wait until you get your laptop cake Denise, as it is too frustrating.Looks like a great place to visit. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the good advice Margaret. That is probably what I will end up doing.
DeleteSigh at the computer woes. I am appalled at just how far they have infiltrated my life.
ReplyDeleteLoved travelling to Gettysburg again with you.
I could say the same thing EC.
DeleteI love visiting these historical places. My husband and I both do. Love these crisp clear pictures.
ReplyDeleteI still can't figure out how to post from my chrome book. I give up.
betsy
Thank you Betsy, and I think I will be patiently, trying to at least, waiting for my laptop to come back from the shop.
DeleteI also struggle with my tablet, not easy to blog on! Hope your computer is returned very soon. Cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane, it's all back now :)
DeleteI can't blog from my IPAD either .. which is why I'm behind as we've been on a little getaway and that was all I had with me. Of course I could have visited people and commented on their blogs, but even that seemed harder with the ipad (although it could have been because I was so tired in the evenings that I could hardly hold my head up to even read).
ReplyDeleteHi Sallie, welcome back :) You're right about that. It goes a lot faster answering on my laptop I find, and traveling is extra tiring I agree. When I was on vacation I hit the pillow and that was it.
