These are the last of the wild chicken photos from our vacation, taken at Limahuli Gardens and Preserve on Kauai. I absolutely loved seeing them running all over the place. They all seemed to be well fed, and I am sure that as green as this island is, there were lots of good things to eat.
And away they go. Bye-bye my little darlings, until next time, whenever that may be.
I'm sharing the above photos with the following. Thank you to all our hosts who bring these fun memes to us, and you can click on their names to see other participants.

Oh yes, those chickens are just all over the place on Oahu too!
ReplyDeleteWe used to keep chickens and I just love holding the fluffy tiny chicks in my hands. Great photos of the mama chicken and her little chicks. Have a beautiful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo cute - love the little chicks! x Karen
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the eggs - but see that they are very successful parents. Which is lovely.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the last of the wild chickens. I like to see the family walking together, chicks following Mama or Papa.
ReplyDeletesmiled all the way through the photos, in one she is high stepping and the little ones are following her. so cute.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha...Henny Penny and Chicken Little in one. Love their proud strut.
ReplyDeleteHello Denise!:) Lovely shots of a bird that one wouldn't normally see wandering about everywhere. The free range eggs should taste delicious, but perhaps it is forbidden to find and eat the eggs!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!:)
On Mauii it's cats that roam around. the cats tend to stay in the bush and ar very wary.
ReplyDeleteThat hen is strutting!
ReplyDeleteThe little chickens certainly know to follow their Momma!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful animals and gorgeous photos !!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend :)
I've enjoyed seeing all these chickens - love your captions too!

Glad you found the post for Seasons on Monday ( post of Seasons- Curious about March). That is right, you cannot see the link ( in red Click Here). until it is open on Monday. Enjoy Sunday and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThen chicks are so cute! Enjoy your Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYou would like the area where I live, Denise. There are a number of roadside places when small flocks of hens flourish. Tourists throw them scraps and they always look healthy.
ReplyDeletePhil and I love chickens and once kept some of our own. There is nothing like an egg laid by one's own 'chooks'.
ReplyDeleteThese hens look very successful at both egg laying and producing chicks.
Oh I'm so enjoying this post!! They're beautiful actually. The colors, the cute chicks...mama hen. All of it. And your last photo...it's like "The End".
ReplyDeleteSweet.
I've returned to say "Thank you so very much for sharing this post on I'd Rather B Birdin' for the week. Much appreciated."
DeleteHave a great day Denise
It's interesting that these birds have reverted to wild creatures when they are no longer pure junglefowl. I have seen the truly wild Red Junglefowl, ancestor of modern domestic fowl, in Bhutan and in Vietnam. It is quite a thrill to locate the original stock of what is such a familiar species, that is probably the most consumed protein in North America.
ReplyDeleteChickens in nature, not locked up tight in cages, are a sight for sore eyes. They are such beautiful creatures and fascinating to watch when left to their own devices.
ReplyDeleteThese are nice photos of those chickens.
ReplyDeleteI have sure enjoyed seeing them...I would have taken a zillion photos.
ReplyDeleteRed Jungle Fowl! Nice to see.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Great shots. Wild chickens well that is something. Hug B
ReplyDeleteThey are so darn cute. I wonder if people find their eggs. (They could use them on your yummy recipe above!
ReplyDeleteCute chicken shots.

So cute! I love the baby chickens!
ReplyDeleteI love chickens and grew to love them more watching my neighbor's flock.. Then I stopped eating chicken.. LOL... Michelle
ReplyDeleteLove the chicks matching Mom's prancing.
ReplyDeleteThey are just awesome, Denise! I know you miss seeing them. Such great pictures of the cute things!
ReplyDeleteWild Jungle Fowl!!!! Very cool! These are actually countable birds. Not just your average chicken:)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. She reminds me of one of my hens.
