DUCKLINGS AND CO.

 These are from my archives. I have been looking at a lot of old photos lately and thought to reshare. I have a lot of fun observing all birds. On a small pond I found three little ducklings with their parents.

I am easily distracted by ducks!

Hello little ducky, hello there little friend. It's so nice to meet you.

Something I read once, I can't remember where. "Immerse yourself in the outdoors. It will cleanse your soul and make you a better person."

I am just a 'girl' who likes ducks. Okay, not so much a girl these days. I have moved forward many, many years. I am an older lady who absolutely adores ducks.

Oh ducky, I love you!

Ducky love is recognizable in any language.

Whoever said that was a wise old duck!

Ah well, rub-a-dub-dub, it's time to go scrub the tub.

A VISIT TO NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL IN 2014

In 2014, I was in Paris and had the blessing of seeing Notre Dame Cathedral with my own eyes.  The tragedy of the fire affected me deeply.  

This is my humble tribute to Notre Dame, to Parisiennes everywhere, to the people of France.  

"And just as the Phoenix rose from

PERSPECTIVE

Gregg just posted this on his social media accounts entitled Perspective.  He enjoys looking at maps as do I, and shared this with me.  I liked it and decided to share today.

The outline of Texas transposed onto a map of Europe.  I have always know that Texas is a big state, having taken two days to drive across it years ago. The breadth of Texas is about a thousand miles give or take.  I am also adding two maps of it below.

Interesting facts about Texas.  I found the found the following information here.  

1. Texas is popularly known as The Lone Star State.

2.  The Alamo is located in San Antonio.  It is where Texas defenders fell to Mexican General Santa Anna and where the phrase "Remember the Alamo" originated.

3. The lightning whelk is the official state shell.

4. Texas is the only state to have the flags of 6 different nations fly over it.  They are Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States and the United States.

5. Although six flags have flown over Texas, there have been eight changes of government.  Spanish 1519-1685, French 1685-1690, Spanish 1690-1821, Mexican 1821-1836, Republic of Texas 1836-1845, United States 1845-1861, Confederate States 1861-1865, United States 1865-present.

6. The King Ranch in Texas is bigger than the state of Rhode Island.

7. During the period of July 24 to 26th, 1979, the Tropical Storm Claudette brought 45 inches of rain to an area near Alvin, Texas, contributing to more than $600 million in damages.  Claudette produced the Unites States 24 hour rainfall record of 43 inches.

8. More wool comes from the state of Texas than any other state in the United States.


9. Edwards Plateau in west central Texas is the top sheep growing area in the country.

10. Texas is the only state to enter the United States by treaty instead of territorial annexation.

11. The state was an independent nation from 1836 to 1845.
