It just says, "I'm disgusted, where is my apple and the least you could have brought us were a few cubes of sugar? Don't come back next time without them!"
I would have loved to have fed them a few carrots, or an apple, or a cube of sugar. I didn't actually have anything but probably wouldn't have fed them. I'm not sure their owner would have been happy with me doing that, and I felt I was taking a liberty asking Gregg to stop the car so that I could take a few pictures. They ambled over immediately, for that treat maybe?
I thanked them for their company, and for the photos. Truly, I love these beautiful animals, and I so rarely get to see them now, except from a distance

Yep, you're getting the side eye for not providing carrots. Pretty and big! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteYes, yes and yes :) Thanks Linda!
DeleteI love horses—and the way they look! These are beautiful photos—thank you!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday! Hugs, Elke
Me too and I only wish I saw more of them. Thank you Elke, you have a wonderful Sunday also :) Hugs, Denise
DeleteLovely photos of the horse, Denise.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, it's a long time to post.
Thank you Margaret, on both counts :) Much appreciated!
DeleteThey are (were) beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100 percent David, thank you :)
DeleteLovely horses :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Ananka :) aren't they?
DeleteNow I am remembering stopping by the horses with Danica when she was very little.
ReplyDeleteThat must be a lovely memory John :)
DeleteI love the horses, Denise! The are beautiful animals.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day and a happy week ahead!
That's great Eileen, so glad :) They certainly are. Thank you and I wish you the same.
DeleteThey are gorgeous. I always enjoy seeing them grazing in a pasture
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, that is always a beautiful sight :)
DeleteTaking a weekend, or weekday drive, is a wonderful experience or rather was before gas prices started the upwards climb. Thanks for sharing these photos of one of yours, Denise.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100 percent and you are very welcome :)
DeleteLovely horses.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, they are :)
DeleteI started blogging about a year after you, in March 2009. I, too, have had different blogs over the years.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting Linda, we've both been at this for a long time now :)
DeleteThey are beauties and I'm glad you stopped to enjoy them. Happy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, I'm happy we stopped. Happy Sunday to you too :)
DeleteHorses are one of the most elegant and beautiful animals in the world.
ReplyDeleteVery much so :)
DeleteI adore horses...never rode or had one but they are just such sweet creatures.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed at a B&B in Goshen, VA years ago. I recall seeing lots of horses in the Lexington area too.
Hugs Cecilia
Agree! I have ridden them in my youth. Memorable experiences, once when a friend and I had lessons and the other along a forest path in Ireland. Both memorable experiences :) Hugs, Denise
DeleteYes, those horses are gorgeous. Is there any animal more photogenic than a horse?
ReplyDeleteThey are incredibly photogenic, aren't they?
DeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteThey definitely were :)
DeleteYou are getting the side eye. You were correct In not feeding them without the consent of the owner. If you don't know what you are doing you could be bit. Speaking for myself, if someone stops to look at the horses or take photos is fine. I've had people stop and ask if they could pet the horses. I am fortunate to have spent a life with these majestic beasts! When I was a child we always took a Sunday drive.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, I'm always inclined not to feed any animal without their owner's permission. We never know about health issues and consequent dietary restrictions. It's so kind of you to let people stop by and pet your horses. We used to have those Sunday drives too as children. It was a way of life, especially after dad bought his first car. I was very young when that happened.
DeleteThey are lovely, and came up to see you!! There are quite a few horses here, and some have signs on the fence that say "Do not feed the horses". So probably better that you didn't have any food for them.
ReplyDeleteIt was a joy and they certainly seemed to enjoy being around people. Humans automatically want to feed others, it seems to be in our genetic makeup :) I am wary when the rare situation presents itself though. We just never know if we are giving them the right kind of food.
DeleteThere is something so beautiful and majestic about horses. Thanks for sharing these again, as I'd not seen them before!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie, you are very welcome and I couldn’t agree more :)
DeleteI did enjoy seeing these lovely photographs.
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations for blogging all this time, I always enjoy my visits to your blog.
All the best Jan
Wonderful, so glad Jan and thank you for your sweet words :) All the best to you too, Denise
DeletePiękne zwierzęta! Są niesamowite
ReplyDeleteWitam i bardzo dziękuję za odwiedzenie mojego bloga. Dziękuję również za Twój miły komentarz. Życzę Ci bardzo udanego tygodnia.
DeleteI wanted a horse since I was little. Thankfully I achieved that dream and more than that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful horses. I know when my brother took me touring around Virginia, I always admired the horse country and beautiful fencing they had!
How wonderful Val, I am so glad you had your dream fulfilled, more than :) I am also very glad you have your memory of touring Virginia horse country with your brother.
DeleteVirginia has beautiful horse country as I remember.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does Marcia :)
DeleteI am such a horse person, so I enjoyed your horse photos very much. They look like such friendly horses too, with tender smiles. : )
ReplyDeleteA perfect description of them Sheri :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous throwback, and I can't believe you are approaching 20 years of blogging, that is such an incredible milestone! Gregg's knack for "following his nose" on weekend drives always seems to lead to the best adventures and hidden gems. Those horses are absolutely stunning, and your caption about their disgusted expressions for the lack of treats cracked me up. It’s always best to play it safe and not feed them, but they certainly did their part posing so beautifully for your camera.
ReplyDeleteI know, it certainly doesn’t seem that long :) Yes, I am glad I am married to an adventurer who likes to get off the beaten path. Always happy you enjoy my posts Melody, thank you!
DeleteI think if you keep the treats healthy the owners won't care. They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandie, they certainly are beautiful! :)
DeleteBeautiful horses. They seem to enjoy the attention even if they were disappointed you didn't bring treats.
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked them Beverley. I think you are right there :)
DeletePretty horses! I like seeing them. They seem intelligent and dignified.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, they are wonderful animals. They do seem as you describe.
