That's all there is for this week's
Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!
For our overseas friends to translate using the third widget down on my sidebar.
One photo this week which says:
"We asked our mother why our beaks looked so different from hers."
"She looked at him in shock and said "Holy Cow! A talking Finch!"
"Mothers can embarrass their children sometimes."

A Grosbeak!! No, a House Finch?
ReplyDeleteYes Ginny, they are both house finches :)
DeleteI laughed so hard at what you wrote, the house finch is fascinating!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Saturday!
Hugs, Elke
I am very happy this made you laugh dear Elke. It is always my intention to give my blogging friends a smile, and a laugh, even better :) you have a lovely Saturday also. Hugs, Denise
DeleteThat’s brilliant 😄... poor finch, having a full identity crisis and all mum can focus on is the talking part! Typical… completely misses the question and goes straight to panic mode. “Mothers can embarrass their children sometimes” might be the understatement of the year.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a heerlijk weekend!
Thank you Aritha, I know, poor finch :) It is our lot to embarrass our children at times, lol! I wish you a wonderful weekend.
DeleteIt's a mother's job to embarrass her offspring occasionally . . .
ReplyDeleteApparently so Janice, says I with a smile :)
DeleteHappy BirdDay
ReplyDeleteAnd a Happy BirdDay to you too John :)
DeleteGorgeous, Denise and mothers can and do.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret and isn’t that the truth? :)
DeleteToo funny. It's always a fun time visiting the bird feeder on Saturday
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, very happy you enjoyed :)
DeleteI know these are house finches. One of your readers, though, asked if they were grosbeaks. I heard yesterday that grosbeaks have returned to our area. I hope one or more stop by my feeders!
ReplyDeleteGinny mentioned the Grosbeaks. I would love it if they visited. Good luck getting them to visit your feeders :)
DeleteA lighthearted little moment, those bird feeder “family dramas” always bring a smile. The humour is simple, but it works well for a weekend post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melody, I appreciate your kind words :)
DeleteI would have guessed grosbeak!
ReplyDeleteI am 99 percent sure these are a male and female house finches, probably mates, but I could be wrong. I have never seen a male grosbeak at our feeders. I also welcome more knowledgeable birders to let me know if they think I am incorrect. I always want to give the correct information :)
DeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine :)
DeleteThey are both finches, but look quite different.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie, the one with all the red is a male while the female has a brownish color.
DeleteI wish my birds talked as well as yours!
ReplyDeleteSmiling here, they are a chatty lot, especially on a Saturday morning :) Thank you Jeanie!
DeleteCool post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne :)
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your birds and the captions! Have a happy weekend.
Thank you Eileen, so glad! I wish you a happy weekend also :)
DeleteThat's so funny.
ReplyDeleteHappy you think so Mary, thank you :)
DeleteThey are finches that look different I believe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandie :) maybe they are purple finches? I'm having doubts now :0
Deletewe mothers are embarrassing!! but we try real hard!!
ReplyDeleteThat we do :)
DeleteHaha good! Parents can be mean haha! I tease my daughter a lot! :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Ananka. I bet your daughter teases you too. My son and I have the same connection, all in good fun :)
DeleteLOL - That's funny.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Happy you think so, thank you Jan and all the best to you too :) Denise
DeleteHumor is sorely needed in trump’s world. Nothing funny about war.
ReplyDeleteNo indeed. When my mother was in her teens she lived in very dire times. In her darkest hours she said there was always someone who knew how important humor was, who could crack a joke and make her smile, and laugh even. Humor can sometimes give us the strong shoulder we need, if that makes any sense.
DeleteHa! I try not to embarrass our children. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, I'll have to ask our son about that :)
Deleteso now we know why he is PINK... humor has saved my life during this past year, even during the worst year since COVID.
ReplyDeleteThat's so good to know Sandra. You have been through a lot.
DeleteGood one!
ReplyDeleteThank you William!
