HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

We were driving home in the dark the other night and I asked my dear other half if he would take me through a couple of the neighborhoods around here. This is what we found.

I am not one for decorating for Halloween, never have been. I made Halloween Cookies when our son was young and all his friends were visiting, but those designs were about as tame as it could get. I enjoy seeing how others decorate their front gardens. Skeletons were very popular this year! I think these would give me nightmares.

From the same front yard.

I recognize Beetlejuice.

He went 'thataway!'

At another home.

And another.

And another.

Not many people had decorated but I was happy to get these few. Some are very elaborate. I would think if there were going to be any more, they would have been done by now.  I guess it's time to think about buying that Halloween Candy.

Thanks for looking everyone.
Have a great day!

  2. Wow, those are Halloween decorations, great photos!!!
You can hardly see anything here. A carved pumpkin in front of a door.
We don't have any children collecting candy either.
I don't like anything spooky either; I don't have anything at home; I'd rather have something autumnal.
have a good halloween time, hugs Elke

    1. Thank you Elke :) There was no Halloween events or decorations when I was growing up in the UK. Our neighborhood here goes in cycles regarding children being given candy door-to-door, depending on how many move into the neighborhood. It's been very quiet the last few years. I also think there are more community gatherings at the local centers. I am very happy adding autumnal decorations and have treated myself to a couple of things this year. Hugs, Denise xo

  3. These are so much like the ones around here. OY, with so many skeletons!! I do think the last one is kind of pretty, especially with the blue and green lights. And the big white bird is very unusual, wonder what the story is with that...

    1. I have enjoyed your neighborhood decorations Ginny. That white bird, it is very hard to tell but it is dog, a character from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. called Zero, the Ghost Dog. All the others are characters from the movie too. Never actually saw it but did a search on Google using this photo.

  5. Some people get right into it. We don't bother. We never celebrated in Australia when I was young but the American influence has seeped into our culture and so some younger people decorate .

  6. I am okay seeing what other people do for decorations but I have never been into decorating, either. In fact, not for any holidays except I used to put up a tree for Christmas. Haven't even done that for years. Maybe this year I will have a tabletop tree again. :)

    1. Same here Rita. My favorite time is Christmas for decorating. A tabletop tree sounds really nice :)

  7. They are obviously not into energy conservation and I can’t imagine their electricity bill.

  8. Those are some neat decorations. I don't decorate for Halloween anymore. Not many of my neighbors do either. On my ride to work though I see lots of houses with decorations. I can't help thinking about all the money people spent on them.

  13. There are a few in our rural area that have outdone themselves with skeletons climbing their houses and all sorts of fun things. That one coming out of the ground gave me a second look!
    Fun.

Give me glowing garden bees and flower lights any day instead! 🐝🌸

  17. Decorations for Halloween are way more elaborate than they where when my son was a boy.

  18. We put out pumpkins the first of Oct which used thru November.
Even when I use my front porch hanging decor with the cat in a witches hat it is so cute I keep it up thru Nov.
Those folks you saw are seriously in to decorating and OM all the taking down would be a bummer

  19. I do miss the days when we would get trick or treaters. Living in the country with acres between us does not bode well for that event!

  23. We get lots of trick or treaters here. It's an easy place for parents to bring their children especially those that live in the hills with few or no close neighbors. I bought two bags of 100 pieces each but will need more than that for sure.
