HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE - ON A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE...

we were on one of those lovely, shady country lanes when I spotted something among the trees. I asked Gregg to slow down and as we approached this particular spot, I saw the deer.

I wasn't expecting to see any today. It has been a long time since my last sighting, but there she was, a total surprise.

She certainly didn't seem to mind that we stopped. She was alert but not skittish. We were close as I used my cell phone for these photos. I took them with Gregg leaning back so that I could get a decent shot through the driver's side window. Sometimes I think in these situations, being in a car is an advantage.

I was able to take a few photos, but we could see a car coming up behind us and we moved on.

Only a few seconds keeping company with this little darling, but it seemed longer.

    1. Yes, her ears were amazing. Everything is so green right now, thanks to all the rain we've had. You're right, it made my whole month. I was not expecting to see any deer as it has been a few months since I spotted the last one :) Thanks Ginny!

  7. There’s something quietly magical about locking eyes with a wild creature like that, especially when it chooses to linger.

  8. Lovely to see when they aren’t in one’s garden eating the roses…which is what happened to me a few years ago! 🤣😱 Hope that you are enjoying the weekend! Sal 😁

    1. Had to smile Sal, I remember a friend telling me that she woke up one morning to see a dozen or so of her tulips gone. She knew who the culprit was that ate them. We had a great weekend thank you (I am writing this on Monday now). Hope you did too :)

  10. You got good pictures of her through the car window. I always manage to get part of the car in the shot. Phooey on the other car coming.

    1. Know what you mean Ann and phooey indeed but for a country road it sure was well traveled. We pulled into several road openings to let a lot of them overtake us. I have a few car window frames in my pictures. I am very glad for the cropping tool :) Fortunately she was close enough that I didn't have to worry about that.

  11. In the areas where I see deer they are generally not skittish. They have become accustomed to humans and their vehicles, and they have no natural predators to worry about.

    1. They still seem to retain their flight instincts here David. I think if we had lingered, she would have taken off. Her ears were turning in our direction quite a bit.

  13. Fun find! We see them quite often where I live but I am surrounded by large tracts of forest.
I still admire them when I see them and curse at them when they are leaping into the road.

    1. Hi Val, it certainly was :) I envy your location if you see them often. I worry about them near busy roads.

    1. Precious is a great word for her Sandra :) The only deer I have seen in Florida is the Key Deer on one of our trips down to Key Largo many years ago. I guess they are not seen anywhere else down that way.

  16. Rather bold little critter. The situation is that some of her buddies crossed the road before you came and she /he just wants to cross the road.
