Yellow-collared Lovebird taken in an aviary while visiting the Honolulu Zoo.
Fir tree with pinecone (taken 200 hundred smiles south, still in Virginia). I tried to find out what type it was, but the closest ID was an Eastern White Pine. They were found along a wooded pathway next to water near the coast.
Examples of pine found online. What do you think?
Hi Denise, I love all your favourite photos here. I agree that that tile is a beautiful piece of art that should have been preserved.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, so glad and yes indeed on the art :) In my happy thoughts it has a new home and is cherished.
DeleteYou really captured the Mallard's shimmering emerald head! And the heron. I have taken many photos of herons, maybe hundreds. But none are as good as this one, it is quite spectacular. Spider flowers always freak me out. They are the plant version of a spider.
ReplyDeleteWe lucked out that day with the sun shining on the duck, same for the heron. The spider flower would fit well in a prehistoric setting :)
DeleteWonderful photos. I agree with you, I do hope that tile was saved.
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend, me too :)
DeleteEach photo sounds like it holds a quiet story—nature’s charm, a moment of curiosity, and a piece of art possibly lost to time but not to memory
ReplyDeleteBeautifully worded Roentare, thank you :)
DeleteI did enjoy and what a beautiful bird, the first one, then the Heron is good too.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Denise.
So glad you liked them, thank you Margaret :)
DeleteLovely photographs. I would love to have that tile - it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice and me too :)
DeleteI can see why all of these are favorites. Wonderful photos. I LOVE the fir tree with the pinecone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, I appreciate that :)
DeleteBased on what I see of the needles, Denise, I am sure it is not Eastern White Pine, but I am unable to tell you what it is! A pine for sure! You are right about the tile. It would be a shame if it were simply destroyed in the demolition.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that ID David, always appreciate your knowledge on these things. Yes, I agree on the tile but am happy that I at least have a photograph of it :)
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteThey are all wonderful photos, I enjoyed them all!
Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
Thank you Eileen :) I appreciate that. I wish you the same.
DeleteThat heron is GORGEOUS! Can't identify that pinecone either...doesn't look like any of them on the picture you found.
ReplyDeleteHello Angie and thank you :) I wish I was more of an expert on these things :)

ReplyDeleteThat’s great Jeanie and thank you so much :) It is fun! I have been reading my daily vacation journals from previous travels and the memories came flooding back.

ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, me too :)
DeleteAll of these are such expert photos--wow!
ReplyDeleteI do hope they saved that pretty tile. :)
Thanks for the lovely compliment Rita, so kind of you :) I hope so too on that tile.
DeleteSo pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you Regine :)
DeleteGreat shots.
ReplyDeleteThe first one doesn't look real. I bet all the other birds think he's a decoy. 😄
I know what you mean Sandi. He was really studying me :)
DeleteEl mundo animal y el vegetal, bien representado en estas fotos.
ReplyDeleteFeliz fin de semana.
Muchas gracias y os deseo un muy feliz fin de semana :)
DeleteColorful lovebird and I like that art tile too.

ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias, agradezco tus amables palabras. Te mando un beso :)
DeleteA lovely selection of photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thank you Jan, I appreciate your kind words :) All the best to you too.
DeleteI thought that Lovebird was a puzzle at first. It's so bright and beautiful. I didn't know there were that many different kinds of pinecones. They are frequently on my lawn, and as soon as we gather them, they seem to fall right back on the ground again. But they are a mountain thing, and I wouldn't have anything else. ; ) The great blue heron is spectacular, and those mallard ducks are special, and this one is a handsome fellow.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
I can see why Sheri :) we get a lot of pine cones on our deck from a very large fir tree next to our house. Thank you Sheri, always happy to share.
DeleteAll very good shots! Love the spider flower. What a groovy name!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ivy and I agree :)
Delete:-)
DeleteSuch a fun collection of memories! I hope that lovely tile art was saved!
ReplyDeleteI do too Sallie and thank you :)
DeleteYour birds are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, much appreciated :)
DeleteThe Lovebird is sat very patiently for you to take the photo. Maybe it was saying 'Do you think this is my best side?'
ReplyDeleteI do hope that tile was saved. It is lovely and would be a shame to just get binned.
That’s very cute, maybe he was. I did get the feeling of being studied quite closely :) I hope so too.
