This was actually done for Earth Hour last month, but I missed it. However, I knew Earth Day was coming up, and decided to share it today.
It comes from a wonderful website here:
https://www.wwf.org.uk/wales/streetart
and is a collaboration between WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), an artist, poetry workshops from Bardd Plant Cymru, Gruffudd Owen, and six pupils from Wales, all who came together for Earth Hour. You can read about this delightful group here. Their poems were painted on wall murals, and one in particular was my favorite.
Where are the otters who play in the river
And the soil's bounty on the table;
We are the smile on care-worn faces
And the seagull heading for the horizon.
We are the children who nurture
our planet's future.
~and another, a separate poem I found elsewhere~
For the future of children, we sow,
In Earth's embrace, let kindness grow.
Blue skies above, green fields below,
A world to cherish, a life to bestow.
From rivers that sing, to winds that hum,
Each whisper of nature, a timeless drum.
Let us nurture, protect, and become,
Guardians of Earth, united as one.
