Fussy birds! Large seeds, small seeds, fruits and nuts. Is the weather too cold for them today? Is it too hot? Is she overthinking again? Probably!
And so it goes on a Saturday morning at the bird feeder.
Wishing you all a great weekend my friends
and thanks for stopping by.
I love the Naughty Boy Squirrel, that is my favorite. So sorry about the new food! Have you tried the wild bird store? Are you still using the camera?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny, no I haven’t tried the wild bird store. I have been reading up on articles on what birdseed attracts different kinds of birds, and have always bought the no mess kind :) I haven’t been using the trail cam for a while, I need to sort that out.
DeleteThe dialogues are so funny and amusing.
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoy them Roentare :)
DeleteLove these. Those squirrels are so cute. Too bad about the birds not liking the new birdseed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, I think there may be signs. For the first time in ages I saw a female cardinal eating the seed in the larger feeder below. Fingers crossed :)
DeleteYour post is nice, I like the little birds and the squirrels. Thank you! Have a nice weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Katerina and you are very welcome :) You have a nice weekend also.
DeleteSo clever, Denise! Mr. Filler Squirrel is the cutest. Surely the birds will return, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha Ellen, I think they will eventually. I just have to be more patient :) Did you get the snow? Ours is a mere dusting.
DeleteOnly wet pavement around here, Denise. Stay warm and cozy!
DeleteThat’s good, it’s practically all gone here. You stay warm and cozy too :)
DeleteMaybe they discovered some other seeds by the neighbours :-))
ReplyDeleteThat cold very well be Angie, I know there are a few gardens nearby where I see feeders in the back :)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteCute post and captions. I love the images, they are adorable.
Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you Eileen, that’s great :) You take care and have a wonderful weekend also.
Deletewe just saw our naughty boy jump the skyway from oak to rain tree and up up on the roof to the avocado... you sure have talkative birds and squirrels at your feeder... cute not mater color or black and white
ReplyDeleteYour naughty boy sounds like an agile little fella :) yes they are very talkative here, even without the cheerful colors, lol!
DeleteShe keeps trying. That should be my motto and the motto of many!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Jeanie, that’s all we can do in life, just keep trying :)
DeletePicky birds, eh? Funny dialogue. I'm a little behind putting out more birdseed. Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteVery much so Ellen! Thank you and you too :)
DeleteEnjoy your Saturday Denise
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, you too :)
DeleteWe do have a lot of discussion about the values of different bird seed.
ReplyDeleteSame here Red :)
DeleteSometimes animals make more sense than people.
ReplyDeleteI suspect there’s some truth to what you say Sandi :)
DeleteIt's amazing how fussy the birds can be!
ReplyDeleteA few months ago we put some nuts out and they were obviously not a favoured variety as they 'hung around' much longer than normal. Back to seeds and suet balls and everyone came visiting again. Lovely :)
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
That's interesting Jan, do you make your own suet balls by any chance? I have seen recipes I was thinking of making but who knows it those fussy birds will eat them, lol! Still, it might be worth a try. Happily we had several feathered friends visit today and they seemed to be enjoying the new birdseed finally :) All the best to you too and enjoy your evening and the week ahead.
DeleteHello Denise, you asked do we make our own suet balls.
DeleteI know many folks do, but no we don't... we get them from a local garden
centre.
All the best Jan
Fresh and Funny Stuff, D! Mahalos!
ReplyDeleteHappy you think so Cloudia, thank you :)
DeleteLOL. Squirrel are a bad boy.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are very naughty, lol!
DeleteBlack and White photos are some of the prettiest pictures. A delightful post at the bird feeder, Denise. It seems that all the critters around your porch get along pretty well.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
I agree, I have always enjoyed them at other sights :)
DeleteSo cute!! Whenever we got a new kind of seed for our feeders (in our 'olden days') it would sit for a few days untouched and then it seemed like the usual birds would send a scout to test it out. One bird at a time for a few days before they would all come again. Bill thought they were like the King's tasters in medieval times. If that bird survived the rest of them would start to come.
ReplyDeleteHappy you thought so Sallie. Thank you for this reminder. I seem to be noticing the same behavior, and that’s a great analogy :)
DeleteHello Denise :=)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post,:=) you are very good at making birds and squirrel pictures talk. Birds can be fussy, and mine only have a preference for sunflower seeds and peanuts. I bought Nijer seeds once, and a mixture of various seeds but they didn't touch them.Portugal doesn't have much in the way of wild bird seed,...for canary's
there is plenty of choice, but that's all. People don't usually feed birds in this country.Thank you for making me smile.:=)
Happy you think so Sonjia, I try my best, some days it comes easier than others :) Thank you for sharing your birdseed choices. I have been trying to find the right blend. I feed them in the winter when food is scarce. When the warmer months arrive there is plenty in nature that sustains them.
