SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - WELL, NOT REALLY...DUCKIES GO FOR A DRIVE

"Oh how kind! You are a hero to me Freddy, to all of us. Thank you!" And off Freddy went back to the rescue station with the rest of the heroes.

Here's a big shout out to all the people who work on our roads, keeping them in good shape and keeping us safe. Heroes for sure!

The duckies were getting a little restless.

They had been watching the skies in the distance and saw that they were getting very dark. It wasn't long before there was a torrential downpour that they thought would never quit.

And those windshield wipers were getting quite a workout. Some of the duckies had never set eyes on one before.

Camera lady had fun trying to take photos between the wiper blades (the rain was so heavy she told the duckies it would have been dangerous to shut them off). It was challenging but she managed this one photo and, my goodness, they were all in sharp focus. They gave her a well-done and told her how pleased they were as they knew that would make Camera lady happy.

It wasn't too long after that they drove out of the rain and the skies got a little brighter.

And then...

no matter how long or short the journey, it is always good to get home.

And that's how it goes on a
Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.
Hugs to all!

I was going to try and write down the dialog in the photos for our international blogging friends to translate, but as I went on longer in this one, I ran out of time and energy. It is very late for me and I find myself having a hard time keeping awake. I will try to make an addition in the next day or so.

Why am I using the duckies? My birds have been very quiet lately and are thumbing their nose at me for not feeding them until the colder months, something I have mentioned before. They have been scarce. I will look through my old bird photos this week.

(A big thank you to my sister-and-brother-in-law for the loan of the jeep and her collection of duckies. They have been a lot of fun having them around for a while.)

  2. Every bit as good as the birdfeeder. This is because of your talent of giving life and personality to inanimate objects. And not only do I get the wonderful and whimsical conversation of the duckies, but beautiful and different scenery. Marvelous!!

    1. I am very relieved you think so Ginny, I was wondering where this one was going when I started it. I never really know until it's finished and then I give it a good look and say, hmmm, should I press the publish button, lol!

    1. Thanks Diane, makes me very happy that it gives you a smile :) It did take me longer than usual but I did it in bits and dabs over the past week and I pick it up again when I have the time. Being able to do it that way set its course, and smiling here. As I said to Ginny in her comment, I never know how it's going to turn out.

  5. A wonderful journey with your friends, Denise.
Seems a bit odd to me to see your car on the wrong side of the road for us.

    1. Thank you Margaret :) I didn't realize you drove on the other side of the road over there, but it isn't something I've thought of for a while. When I first came to the States, I was scared to death driving but got used to it eventually. The last time I went back to the UK, I was too scared to drive over there too, lol!

    1. Thanks Ann :) He was wonderful! Such a fun young man, waving and laughing as we waved back and laughed too. He really was a great dancer, doing some kind of, well I don't know the type of dancing it was, but very energetic and coordinated.

  8. this is one of my most favorite EVER of your posts, its better than a book because it tells the story but I also have fun imagining you trying for blurs/nonblurs/ and seeing the world through the eyes of your ducks. LOVE the fireman and my favorite duck is the big green duck... great post and I would love to ride and take photos here but refuse to ride with Bob driving, and now he can't drive.

    1. Well, you certainly made my day, thanks Sandra :) Understand completely, you know I haven't driven in a couple of years? I had to once not so long ago and it was all in freeway rush-hour traffic. My help needed and couldn't say no but at the end of that drive I was a nervous wreck!

I loved the conversation when the wipers started, big trucks are scary especially on a rainy day on a 2 lane road. Your Ducks came to life today.

I loved it ... thank you.
I actually have two duckies in the bathroom, they are called 'spitty' and 'spotty' ... the grandchildren think they are wonderful, and I think they are cute :)
We should all have a little whimsy in our lives it brings such smiles.

  26. Denise, echoing what so many others have already commented in saying this was a fun post and thanks for letting us know about the jeep’s owners and the duck acquisitions. As a Jeep owner, I have read and seen this obsession, but my vehicle is duck-less currently. Now, I see that the ducks are quite verbal passengers😀 in your very creative and fun post
