Hi Ginny, raccoons are not true hibernators, and stay active year-round. However, they do spend most of the winter sleeping in their dens. Their bodies shut down and will go into a deep slumber for a month to six weeks at a time. They also don’t migrate to milder climes but will find a nice warm den to sleep in and stay put. Just wishful thinking on the cardinal’s part :)
With all the things I get changed, I'd say it was auto correct Anni, but truthfully I didn't even notice the difference. Just shows how observant I am.
I always enjoy your conversations with your backyard friends, Denise! If I were you I'd have to be careful with the squirrel. They are cunning and so cute they can convince me of anything!
Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.
I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
I LOVE this! I always enjoy it when you caption the critters, it is so cute. So the raccoons don't stay all year?? I did not know that!

DeleteThese are great Denise and one of my favourite is that male Northern Cardinal to look at as I've never seen one but love their colour.
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed Margaret, thank you :) The male cardinal is a favorite of mine. His wife is beautiful too with her colors more muted and delicate.

DeleteCute!! Reminds me of the comic "family circle" when the kids would always say "it wasn't me" when something was broken.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anni, that sounds like a fun comic :) a little slice of life.
DeleteI just read about it here Anni.

Ya...circus! Why I typed circle is beyond me. Or was it auto-correct?
