OLD POSTCARDS...

from one of our road trips back in 2008.  I look forward to the day when we can all take to the road again, be it a long road trip or a short one.  My hope is for people to be able to explore this beautiful world of ours, and see what is over the next hill.

I always enjoyed sending postcards to family and friends. It is something I have done since I was a little girl. It started with mum sitting us down and writing a few scribbles to grandparents.   She would write out the addresses and write a few lines to translate no doubt.

Whenever I traveled, I took a list of names and addresses safely packed away in my bag. I also loved collecting postcards. Before retirement and when Gregg went away on business, he never failed to bring me back a few, usually from the airport when waiting to board.

Just like looking at other people's travel photos, looking at my postcards is the kind of armchair traveling I enjoy, only instead of a suitcase in my hands I have a cup of tea.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

  1. You have been a lot of places. I never heard of the Grand Circle, what and where is it? It is so hard to get postcrds now! It used to be tht you could even buy them in drugstores. But now only at big tourist attractions or on Amazon.

    1. Thanks Ginny :) we were gone for almost two months on this trip. If you go here it will explain what the Grand Circle is and it has great photos:

The only places I can find postcards now is at gift shops at the places we visit, or airports. They used to sell them in our local bookstore and also the drug stores, but stopped that several years ago. I used to like browsing through the ones in our local area.

  2. What an amazing collection.
I love postcards, but have notice that they are harder to find now. One of the sacrifices to our internet laden world?

Good places to visit it seems and it will be great when we all can travel again at leisure - one day :)

  7. I love the idea of bringing back postcards, from a trip... Way back when we traveled some.

Did not like the idea of spending my trip time, looking through the lens of a camera!

Plus, wonderful photographers had taken more marvelous photos, of everything... and put them on post cards.... more amazing than I could ever take.

  14. I used to send postcards to family when on our travels abroad and one to myself - for the interesting stamp. Then any visit to a museum, art gallery or town I've bought a few postcards for my collection as a reminder of the culture and buildings. It looks as if you've been to some spectacular places with wonderful views.

    1. I did the same thing Linda :) For the stamp and the postmark, and the memory of what we did on a certain day. We have enjoyed our road trips tremendously.

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.

I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
