Good morning everyone! How are you?
1.
Here I am in my woollies, and a cup of tea is warming me up nicely, but I have really got to get moving.
2.
I’m getting there but first…
3.
(Further: pronounced "OH-lay-loo. It is a beautiful Finnish word describing a state of calm, unhurried relaxation, simply existing in the moment without agenda or pressure to do something; it's about embracing stillness, serenity and being present, often through quiet activities like reading or enjoying a cup of tea. It comes from the Finnish verb "oleilla" meaning "to be,: and reflects a cultural appreciation for mindful, intentional downtime, a contrast to a constantly busy world.)
In my land of dreams today, I would dearly love to hug my brother the grizzly bear.

and poking a little fun at myself here.

Very important!

A gift from hubs for our Christmas tree, from the garden center I shared about, a lovely surprise to find it after we got home. He saw me looking at it. What do you know, they had a tree full of bird ornaments too. Maybe after the holidays to see what's on sale? That's always fun!
And here he is, now on our tree. I'm calling him Gilbert the Canada Goose.
9.
10.
And something else for the birds. Did you know?
11.
And
12.
Well, I don’t actually live in the woods, would love to and…
13.
14.
15.
And to finish off...for all of you.
16.
And there you go. I hope you enjoyed.
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.

Oleilu: a calm, unhurried state of simply being, not about doing, achieving, or planning, but the quiet act of existing in the moment.

Sometimes I talk to myself. Then we both laugh and laugh.

they have the answers.
Let me keep company

"Look!"
and laugh in astonishment,
and bow their heads."

Something told the wild geese
It was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden,
Someone whispered, -- 'snow'.
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries luster glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
Something cautioned, - 'frost!'
All the sagging orchards steamed
With amber spice but each wild
Breast stiffened at remember, - 'ice'.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly, -
Summer sun was on their
Wings, winter in their cry.

Brainy Little Birdies!
Chickadees can remember 1,000 + hiding spots!
Each winter, they stash seeds all over and can recall nearly every location months later. That's a memory trick most humans wish they had.
12.
Cut the Fall (Autumn) Cutback
Those 'dead' seed heads are a buffet for migrating birds. Leave them standing and your garden becomes a free winter bird feeder.

The older I get, the more I understand why people live in the woods and talk to squirrels.

Thank you for being a generous soul and a beautiful spirit in a world that could use a million like you. Thanks so much for everything you have done, and for all that you continue to do. You’re the best and you’re appreciated more than I can say.
With my thanks to Pinterest for the inspiration.

I have learned a wonderful new word here today, though I am doubtful if I will remember it. But I am sure to be practicing it! The rabbits are wonderful. But most of all, the POEMS!!! I love them, and Mary Oliver is so wonderful; I have one of her books. The wild geese poem I only knew by it's first line and now am so glad to know it all!
ReplyDeleteThat's the good thing about me writing these things down, I can just come and back for a refresh. Feel free to copy and paste any of them. You and I like the same kind of poems I think Ginny :)
DeleteHow sweet the Canada goose looks, that's so kind of your husband, and I was so delighted by the bunnies and all the quotes, you brightened my morning with it.
ReplyDelete„OH-lay-loo“ I wish you all the best for today, hugs Elke
Hello Dear Elke, thank you. It's one that will be treasured on the tree. So happy I brightened your morning. You certainly do the same when I visit you my friend :) I wish you all the best for today too, hugs Denise xo
DeleteHow sweet of your husband that he bought you this beautiful Christmas ornament because he saw you looking at it! That's so attentive!
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole and thank you so much. He is a very observant person I will say that with 100 percent certainty :)
DeleteI love that word. Oleilu is what I'm doing all those times I thought I was just being lazy.
ReplyDeleteThe ornament is so nice. What a wonderful surprise that was.
It's a great word isn't it? No, never lazy. We all need to sit back and recharge. Happy you enjoyed the ornament :)
DeleteOleilu should be in all our vocabularies and regularly practised.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the dog lawyer - he'd certainly get lots of business!
That great and yes, the dog lawyer is going to be very, very busy :)
DeleteAny day that starts with soothing words from Mary Oliver is bound to be a good day.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more David, she was a jewel and left a wonderful legacy with her writing :)
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteWonderful quotes and cute images. I like the goose ornament too.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Thank you Eileen, so glad and thank you very much. I wish you the same :)
DeleteGreat graphics. Too bad though that I won’t remember that wonderful word, oleilu.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anvilcloud :) I hope you remember the word the next time someone comes along when you are kicking back relaxing :)
DeleteI am in the same position, as you, when you penned this post. I am drinking a cup of tea, but I need to get moving too. We are hosting Christmas dinner, as well as Christmas Eve, for the two of us, Bob’s stepdaughter and her wife and our three grandchildren. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThat's great Linda and I enjoyed your goings on for Christmas dinner and Christmas Eve. You and Bob have a wonderful with your stepdaughter, wife and three grandchildren. I look forward to hearing all about it. Thank you for the greetings and I also with you Merry Christmas to you, Bob and your family :)
DeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne :)
DeleteLove Gilbert the Goose. Saw 4 groups of geese flying south from K.C. Each group was only half of a "V." I can hear them honking before I see them overhead. I need to find more forest to sit in. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see the geese flying, what an amazing sight they are and then with the honking, one of the best sights there is :) I agree about more forests!
DeleteYour husband is very sweet :-) That's a beautiful bird ornament, Denise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, I will tell him you said that :)
DeleteLove you friend
ReplyDeleteLove you too my friend :)
DeleteThank you for all the smiles and a few LOL's really loudly. the bunny graphics are perfect and melted my heart, the foxes are so sweet, and the bird ornament is the sweetest of all. I was about to say Bob never bought me a gift because he saw me looking at it, and then I realized that is because he refused to go shopping with me.. he hates going in stores... I just started buying what I wanted if I saw it.. I think the cat on the counter is my favorite, and it did get the laugh out loud stamp of approval.
ReplyDeleteAh now, you made my heart happy reading all that. Thank you Sandra. Always thinking of you, Bob and Beau. Buying what you see is a fun thing to do. Yes, I laughed out loud at that one too :)
DeleteA wonderful holiday post. I had to send the cat on the counter photo to my daughter. Their cat, Darla, has made that a habit too.
ReplyDeleteLoving the fact that you sent the cat to your daughter Marcia. Darla sounds like a sweet kitty even if she yells like the kitty in the picture, lol!
DeleteLovely post
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine, much appreciated :)
DeleteGilbert, your Canada goose on your Christmas tree is beautiful, just like the little doll... we're decorating the tree tomorrow before lunch, which means the children will decorate it and I'll have the pleasure of watching... wonderful... yes, right, with a cup of tea in hand.
ReplyDeleteWarmest wishes for you.
Merry Christmas.
Viola
I am glad you like it Viola. I remember it being tradition when I was growing up to decorate on Christmas Eve. It was such a special evening. Enjoy doing your own and enjoy that cup of tea :) Merry Christmas, Denise xo
DeleteDenise what a fun post it gave me warm fuzzy feeling.
ReplyDeleteMe myself and I have lots of good conversations too
Hugs to you Gregg and your son and daughter in law
Cecilia
Makes me happy to read your comment Cecilia, thank you so much :) Me, myself and I, love it. Haven't heard that expression in a while and it always makes me chuckle. Hugs to you and hubby too, and the rest of your dear family, which of course include the furry ones also. Hugs, Denise xo
DeleteDenise we are home not going anywhere else. The story about company upstairs was a flash back from 2009.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
Gotcha! Thanks for explaining :) Hugs, Denise xo
DeleteFabulous post Denise ... and I do like Gilbert the Canada Goose.
ReplyDeleteI am fortunate to have a sweet new mouse sitting on my window sill!
I've called him 'Montgomerie Mouse' or Monty for short ... the grandchildren think the name suits him and seem to appreciate my little bit of whimsy in the world :)
In case I do not get the opportunity to visit your blog again before Christmas, I do want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, and thank you for your blogging friendship.
All the best Jan
Thank you dear Jan, so kind of you! Love the sound of Montgomerie Mouse (Monty). I hope you'll be taking a photo of him to share. Love that your grandchildren appreciate your little bit of whimsy. We need more of it in the world, not only for the little ones but for ourselves too. I have really appreciated our blogging friendship my dear friend. It's been lovely getting to know you. We have celebrated Christmas early with our girls and families now they have gone to their husband's families, so today on Christmas Day we are on our own with left overs and all my blog friends.
