I am having a case of déjà vu, feeling I have shared these photos before. After my mistake of sharing one set of photos on two different blog posts not so long ago, I am doubting myself. So, if by any chance you have in fact seen these already, just put it down to my foggy brain, which I seem to have had a lot of lately.
We didn't do a new recipe this week and just stuck to simple foods, simple stir fries, sandwiches and ate what needed to be used up out of the veggie/fruit bowl, fridge, freezer or from the pantry. And more importantly it was one of those weeks where neither of us felt like fussing too long in the kitchen. There is a restaurant called First Watch that hubby suggested we try, and it was a good choice. A way of replacing my usual Monday morning recipe post, for lack of a recipe.
The mural was on the back of the building. I couldn't get a full straight-on photo. It is in a busy intersection of a shopping parking lot and there were too many cars going back and forth. I couldn't stand in the middle of the road so I took what I could. The second photo was taken from the passenger side as we were driving by on our way to exiting the shopping area onto the main street.
A view of the shops seen as we are at the entrance of the restaurant, looking to the left...
and straight on.
Hubby dropped me off at the door and went to park the car. I signed us in with the young lady at the desk, took a seat in the waiting area.
Gregg arrived and within five minutes we were being shown our table. We had the information board right above us.
I had my own coffee pot and I was a happy camper. Gregg doesn't drink coffee, or tea for that matter. He said I had a big smile on my face when that was placed in front of me. True! It was good coffee. I used hazelnut creamer that I took out of the little pot of creamers on the table. I had two or three cups with my breakfast. At home I normally enjoy a single cup of black coffee in the morning.
It's probably too hard to read the menu but this is what it looked like. Feel free to enlarge the collage, or any of these photos for that matter. Top and back of the menu...
and a separate one showing the spring menu. If you go to this link it will show you a clear look of their menu in pdf form.
Ours was the skillet hash plus an order of their million-dollar bacon which we shared.
I liked this old rustic window on the wall...
We enjoyed this place very much and wouldn't mind going again sometime. They are open from 7.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
I realized later on doing a search of my blog, that we had been to another First Watch in another location back in 2019, and that post you can see here. It closed a few years ago. This place is newly opened and replaced another restaurant in this location. There are a few of you who may have seen our previous visit as I recognize a few blogging friends there, but it's been a while so you might enjoy it again.
Hi Denise, so nice to see your lovely smiles. 😊 Bacon and eggs? Yes, please. I love the menu you shared. Love ❤️ all your photos and the male cardinal is a great feature. I bet you enjoyed that coffee.
ReplyDeleteSweet of you to say that Linda, thank you so much! They have a great menu and that bacon has a really delicious coating on it. I found a copycat recipe that I will share on here some time. And I surely did enjoy their coffee :)))
DeleteI see that I am the first comment on your post from 2019. But I have no memory of it. That is why you could post things twice, because I wouldn't remember the first time! This looks like a wonderful place, and sure has a huge menu considering it is only breakfast. Their cheerful mural also shows what kind of place they are. This little shopping center looks nice, my eye has been on the cake shop!
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard for me to remember that far back too Ginny :) You're right, and I don't mind posting things for a second time as I do get quite a few posts from my old blog that I closed but still have access to myself. I used to go to that shopping center a lot at one time but it's rare now. I would like to check out that cake shop! That wasn't there when I used to go there. I like that mural a lot and it's a good advertisement for the restaurant.
DeleteLovely photos. That mural of the Cardinal is a beauty Denise. Well done to the artist.
ReplyDeleteOff to look at the menu.
Thank you Margaret and I agree about the murals :) Superbly done! I hope you enjoyed looking at the mural.
DeleteThe cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and charming decor like the rustic window and cardinal artwork added to the experience.
ReplyDeleteDespite some déjà vu over sharing photos, the visit was clearly memorable. It’s great to discover a spot that feels welcoming and worth returning to for a casual breakfast or brunch.
Good post my friend
Thank you Asep, it is very kind of you to say, and I am happy you enjoyed the look of the place :)
DeleteYour warm, honest reflections and everyday moments—from déjà vu over photos to the simple joy of a good cup of coffee—create such a comforting, relatable snapshot of life, and I always enjoy the gentle rhythm of your storytelling.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Roentare, I appreciate your comment very much :) so kind of you my friend.
DeleteNice to see you both looking so well. Sounds like your week in the kitchen, Was like my every week in the kitchen 😃
ReplyDeleteThank you Cloudia, very sweet of you to say. Well, we're going through a spell where we are most definitely not kitchen-bound :) I can understand when you say our week is like your week every week. Hopefully we will get our mojo back soon but it's definitely upped and gone right now.
DeleteLooks like a delicious menu with lots of lovely things to try.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley, it certainly is as you say :)
DeleteLove the decor - and your smiles.
ReplyDeleteSweet of you to say Sue, thank you so much :)
DeleteAwesome that you enjoyed it. I like that information board...
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie, me too. I always enjoy this type of board :)
DeleteAnd to think I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteSmiling here. Most days I will have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, usually my old standby, Weetabix and some kind of fruit :)
DeleteI'm lucky if I remember last week so chances of recalling a post you did in 2019 are very unlikely. I had to go look because I wasn't sure if I was following you then. I didn't comment but I know quite a few of the ones that did.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks good. I like that big cardinal.
That's great Ann :) yes, it was nice to see our other blogging friends from back then, but I think you and I met sometime after that.
DeleteThe mural is really cheerful. It sounds a nice place to visit and revisit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice, we look forward to going back but it will be a while I think :)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the mural, the Cardinal is lovely. Your breakfast looks delicious.
Happy June, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thank you Eileen, so glad :) Happy June to you also and I wish you the same.
DeleteI don't remember the photos or the mural but it looks like a great place!
ReplyDeleteGreat, it seems I wasn't correct with my déjà vu feeling :) Thanks Jeanie!
DeleteIt looks like a fun place for breakfast. I would love to try that hazelnut creamer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi and I would like to know if you try the hazelnut, it's one of my favorites when I go out :)
DeleteDenise and Gregg we are huge fans of First Watch and their C O F F E E and of course their food, quick prep and happy servers. I have not seen this and I thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs cecilia
Well, there you go, so glad you enjoy First Watch also, and their coffee and everything else. You are very welcome for the share. Sending hugs :)
DeleteWhile we enjoy eating other meals at restaurants, breakfast is hands down our favorite especially when traveling. This place looked like a great choice and I like hazelnut creamers in my coffee as well, Denise.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is fun to enjoy breakfast when traveling especially :) hazlenut creamer makes a lovely addition to coffee doesn't it?
Deletemy favorite breakfast food is bacon, my favorite mural is the cardinal and favorite photo from today is the window on the wall. I would love to have that in my living room and have just the size wall for it. hint hint. the window not a picture of the window. hint hint. I much prefer eating breakfast out, not at home. we have not been out to eat for more than 3 months, and seriously doubt we ever will again.. so sad...
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra :) we both thoroughly enjoy bacon here. Glad you enjoyed my post. I'd like to get something like that window for this house. I hope you get to enjoy a breakfast out one of these days my friend. I know things are topsy turvy for you right now. Always thinking of you.
DeleteSounds like a good breakfast spot. I had to look on the map to see where it was and found three locations. I lived on Clifton Rd at rt 123 when I was in high school and college, south of Fairfax. The area is very different from when I lived there.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia, how interesting about you living this way. I know both of those roads. Yes it's all changing! Construction crews are in full swing everywhere it seems.
DeleteThe older we get, the more challenging it gets to keep up the cooking.
ReplyDeleteVery true Red, you hit the nail on the head there :)
DeleteThat is a clever name for the restaurant. Fun to see the two of you enjoying your time there and of course the food! Happy June to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, we did have fun at this place. Happy June to you too :)
DeleteYou both look happy! The food looks very good. I would also have been delighted with my own pot of coffee!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra :) one of the treats of going out to eat but it was a surprise to get my own pot of coffee :)
DeleteNice to have a meal out.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is, thanks Christine :)
DeleteYour smile says it all. I like FIRST WATCH too. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Regine, it's a great restaurant isn't it :) sending hugs :)
DeleteLooks like a nice place :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks Ananka, it was our first time in this particular location and very much enjoyed :)
DeleteI enjoyed your photographs, it looks a nice place.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
That's great, so glad. Thank you Jan and all the best to you too :)
DeleteYour very own pot. That is a treat. That looks like a nice one even to have at home and keep tea or coffee hot during the morning.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was Ivy, and it was a big pot too but I expect they thought hubs was going to share it. Haha, I fooled them :)))
DeleteParece un buen lugar. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias. Disfrutamos mucho de nuestra visita. ¡Te mando un beso! :)
DeleteGreat smiles! That chain has great breakfasts.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :) it certainly does.
DeleteGreat looking cardinal!
ReplyDeleteI thought so too :)
DeleteWe have a couple of those restaurants here (we're still in Florida) and I love a good breakfast out occasionally, so I like this chain a lot!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely Sallie, I didn't realize they reached down to Florida. Glad you enjoy it as much as we do and it is lovely to have a breakfast out occasionally :)
