A favorite from my archives. The weathervane caught my attention when we were on one of our weekend drives. We had stopped to look at an old building and this was on the roof. The sparrow refused to pose long enough for a photo. He was already heading south! You will see him if you look along the downward line of the roof.
"If twice rotates the weathervane,
it’s indicating wind and rain."

and
“You who travel with the wind,
what weathervane shall direct your course?”

Thanks so much for visiting, I hope your weekend is a great one, and that your weathervane is caught by a faint breeze to cool your day.
What a wonderful happenstance photo! The dog is sparrow hunting!! It is so like you to find something so whimsical and cool!

ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra :) We have a neighbor who has one on her roof but can't remember seeing any others elsewhere for a long time.
DeleteWhat a neat weathervane that is. I wonder if the owner is a hunter or perhaps just loves dogs.
ReplyDeleteI wondered that too, thanks Ann :)
DeleteThe weathervane is delightful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice, happy you think so :)
DeleteIt’s easy to forget that weather vanes were once important devices to which people paid attention. Now we check our phones!

DeleteGreat catch in the first photo, to see the sparrow taking off for parts unknown.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red, I was very surprised to see that little sparrow :)
DeleteSomething about weather vanes just bring calm and peace to any picture. We had several on our horse barn in Wisconsin. I brought one with us to South Dakota, it now sits on top of a post.
ReplyDeleteI agree! How lovely that you brought one of your weathervanes to South Dakota :)
DeleteSuper jest ten wiatrowskaz. Miłego weekendu:)

ReplyDeleteThank you Christine :)
DeleteIt just dawned on me that you don't see weather vanes much anymore. I like the dog.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I thought it was different :)
DeleteHi Denise, new follower here. I've been looking for interesting new blogs and came across yours. A pointer dog on a weathervane actually makes perfect sense! I'm surprised we don't see it more often.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, so nice to meet you and thank you for following me :) I always enjoy meeting a new blogging friend. I am going to do a search of weathervanes for sale. Maybe I can find ones with dogs.
DeleteI love vintage windvanes.
ReplyDeleteI can see why, they are lovely!
DeleteI have never seen a weather vane like this.
ReplyDeleteRecently my neighbors had a new chimney cap installed.
It is in the shape of a wagon like from the westerns.
Hugs happy Friday
Cecilia
