WHEN DID THE FIRST FLOWER BLOOM?

I found the slab when we were on vacation at another garden years ago, but I thought it would be a nice start to share flowers I have seen at one of our local gardens recently. We tend to alternate places where we walk.  On this day we went back to Green Spring Gardens.

      The above reads:

When did the first flower bloom?
It is still a bit of a mystery.  Fossils show they existed around 135 million years ago.  Today hundreds of thousands of different flowers have evolved.

This is what I saw two days ago.

  1. These photos are really exquisite, they really pop, and almost look 3-D. The Lenten rose is so amazing that it almost doesn't look real! It is stunning! Wish I could see a real one. the Paperbush is strange and fascinating!

    1. I agree, they are lovely flowers and were a very welcome sight :) I will be sharing more of the Paperbush next time. The flower, it seemed to me, would have fitted well in a prehistoric forest. I have others that I took of the Lenten Rose also, but this was the best photo.

  10. You are about a month ahead of us, assuming March doesn't backfire and bring us snow or ice that kills what is starting to bud. That Lenten rose is especially beautiful.
