"Example: Waking up on a cozy Sunday morning after a long week of work to the sound of rain? That’s the best drizzlosis for me."
Etymology & Word Origins
The drizzl in drizzlosis represents “drizzle” which means “light rainfall.” “Osis” is a suffix meaning “condition or state of (something).”
I don't think Squirrel cares much about words.
A beautiful and functional place for the critters to dine!!! And they are up to their weekly cleverness and hijinks. A fun new word, too! It is true that I sleep better when it rains! And now I know why...drizzlosis!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are a mischievous bunch that's for sure :) I like a nice soft rain to fall asleep on too.
DeleteHaving seen far too many droughts I always welcome the rain.
ReplyDeleteI hope your drought is over for a while Sue :)
DeleteSmiling here, you always do a great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret, I much appreciate that :)
DeleteI love drizzlosis. That is what I do in stormy weather with a book.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely state of being isn't it? :)
DeleteLolol....Where DO YOU find these words, girl!! I love it...and no, never heard the word spoken before but I definitely come under the influence of it!
ReplyDeleteLove the rain sounds...
Happy weekend!
hugs
Donna
They just pop up every now and again, and I just grab them for sometime down the road :) Too good to miss these words are, ha! Rain sounds are lovely aren't they? Happy week to you and I hope your weekend was great. Sending hugs!
DeleteI love your cam views, they are always amazing, the close up of pieces of them is wonderful. I am going to borrow your word to go with my rain video if that is ok, yes I was in drizzlosis and did not know it
ReplyDeleteThat's great Sandra and thank you :) I am very happy you liked the word enough to share on your blog too, love that and appreciate it.
DeleteDo you have a camera in your bird feeder? We too have drizzle this morning but I'm not feeling as happy about it! Have you heard of mizzle? "Used in Devon and Cornwall to mean a misty drizzle."
ReplyDeleteYes I do Liz, it's a nifty little bird feeder and have only had it for a month but I have a story to tell about it sometime :) I haven't heard of mizzle, or if I had when I lived in south Devon, I have forgotten. I have lived here 47 years. The mind gets misty :) Now that's a lovely word!
DeleteWhat a nice new feeder. I like the word drizzlosis. I do like a rainy day now and then. Of course if there are too many in a row then I tend to get a case of the blahs.
ReplyDeleteI'll be telling a story about that feeder soon Ann. No, I don't like too many days in a row with rain. We need a bit of sunshine and hope you are getting yours.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteDrizzlosis is a new word for me. I am happy that we are finally having some rain here.
Great captures of the birds and squirrels at your feeder. Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thanks Eileen, it's a fun word and glad you liked the photos. You take care and have a happy week. I hope your weekend was a great one :)
DeleteThat certainly is a new word to us, we do love a rainy Sunday morning though!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a porch but I would love to sit outside in a rocker with my coffee and watch the rain.
DeleteGood Saturday morning story.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Red, thank you :)
DeleteHaha
ReplyDeleteHappy it gave you a chuckle Christine, thanks so much! :)
DeleteThis was really so fun and lovely, Denise. I learned a new word! Expect me to steal it very soon. Aloha!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, happy you enjoyed Cloudia :) I'd be happy for you to steal it :))) Aloha my friend!
DeleteDenise, learned a new word today. There's nothing like a rainfall, light or heavy. It helps with so many things, and we especially need it here in California. We did get much rain this year, and was thankful. Your bird feeder posts always delight me. And you sure take wonderful photos to go along with the story.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend.
~Sheri
Great, thanks Sheri. A gentle rain is so soothing isn't it? Nice to have enough to benefit everyone too, especially as you have had such a dry year. I have a lot of fun out of my bird feeders and I appreciate your kind words. Hope your weekend was peaceful and that you will have a great week :)
DeleteThat squirrel is such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, thanks William :)
DeleteA new word and I love it!
ReplyDeleteSo happy, thanks Jeanie :)
DeleteOh, drizzlosis is a new word for me! Not to be confused with drizzelicious which involves chocolate syrup. 😉
ReplyDeleteI was in a state of drizzlosis but could really have had a state of drizzelicious ;) anything involving chocolate is okay with me, ha!
DeleteThis is fun! That is a great word. I was thinking of petrichor the other day, as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy you thought so Jenn :) I've heard that word but need a refresher. Going to look it up as soon as I have sent this.
DeleteI love the sound of rain. I like to snuggle under the doona with a book when it is cold and raining.(but that doesn't happen often in Queensland. It is usually hot when it rains.
ReplyDeleteA kindred spirit, it's wonderful just as you describe. Thanks Diane :)
DeleteAnother lovely post and what a good word drizzlosis is :)
