We moved to our new house in April this year and we get squirrels at our bird feeders. We lived in our old house over twenty eight years and only saw them in the garden a handful of times. They can be pests but I think their cuteness outweighs all that.
We have the grey ones in our area. I have only seen a black squirrel once, others when I visited Canada. Also a couple of albino squirrels but this has been many years ago. Our Eastern Gray Squirrels are abundant :)
Oh Denise, you are so patient with these squirrels. I am not. I always shooooo them away when I see them in my front yard. But lately, I have felt badly for them, as it is so cold here in the mountains, and they are just trying to survive. But they do scare me a bit, so I don't get close to them at all. Your "morning at the bird feeder" posts always delight me.
Thank you Sheri, and I do understand that squirrels are not everyone's favorite :) I don't get close to them either, because they are after all wild and I don't want them to get habituated to us. They do run when we go out onto the deck and I always think that's a good thing. Glad you enjoy my bit of whimsy. When a friend's children were very young, I would make up these little 'shows' to read them when they visited and they always loved them, so I continue the tradition for others. I've realized that even us adults enjoy them and for that I am very grateful :) I certainly enjoy putting them together.
Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.
I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
Smiling. Enjoy your weekend.
