    How cute! this makes me remember a celebrity dog trainer from years ago. She would come on T.V. and talk about walkies to the dogs in a high pitched voice.

      That was Barbara Woodhouse Ginny, she was very popular at the time wasn't she? I used to watch her show The term "walkies" has always been used, at least as far back as I can remember. When we were children I often remember Dad picking up the leash and yelling "WALKIES" and our dogs would rush from where they were in the house to the door, very excited that they were going for a walkies :)
