"NO MAN EVER STEPS...

"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."

~Heraclitus~

The tree stump photo I shared last week on our trip to Mason Neck State Park.  That is the Potomac River in the background.  I found the quote on a wall at the visitor center.

Heraclitus (also spelled Heracleitus), was an ancient Greek,  pro-Socratic, Ionian philosopher, c. 535 – c. 475 BC, a native of the city of Ephesus, Anatolia, which was then part of the Persian Empire and is now Selçuk, Turkey.  Little is known about his life, and the one book he apparently wrote is lost. His views survive in the short fragments quoted and attributed to him by later authors.
