"What happens to everyone
in the Fall,
when the days get short
and the sun gets small
and leaves go skidding
on every breeze
and apples are picked
from the apple trees
and at night the edges
of puddles freeze?
What happens to everyone?
Where in the Fall does everyone go?
"Where Does Everyone Go?"

I love Autumn and after our searing summers I will be out in it reveling in the arboreal fireworks and the finally pleasant weather. I suspect I am in the minority.
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite time also EC :) Enjoy your weather and those arboreal fireworks :)

DeleteLove the poem. I love fall and will be out to the mountains more. I do like the beach with the sound of waves crashing. I love all nature has to offer. I would love to find a little cabin in the mountains with a fireplace and just enjoy the quiet for a little while.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, happy you enjoyed it. I head to the mountains more also and like you enjoy the waves when they are crashing on the shore :) You and are of like mind, that little cabin with a fire roaring is my ideal way to spend my time.
DeleteThis is beautiful. I know my kids in Illinois and Maryland are going into the secluded forests to enjoy the peace of the forest colors.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jay, I was in the woods walking yesterday. Love doing that like your kids :)

ReplyDeleteThank you Martha Ellen :) I am loving this time of the year :)
DeleteEveryone is at home this Fall because of Covid )))...sorry couldn’t resist. (And it isn’t even true but possibly it may be again,). Really it’s a sweet poem and even in a normal year, things do get quieter as the weather cools! That is probably why I like the season so well!
ReplyDeleteHi Sallie, yes I know, we're all at home more because of the dreaded C. We tend not to go too far and everyone we know is isolating themselves. We're not planning to get together with family or friends for the holidays this year :( but better safe than sorry.
DeleteCreative poetry, and a beautiful image.
ReplyDeleteThank you William!
DeleteSuch a lovely Autumnal post.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
