I am sharing another visitor to our garden. We have chipmunks in the area and I often see them running around. I took this little one on the front steps of our home. These are not new photos. I hope you don't mind me sharing again if you remember them from before.
Chipmunks are the smallest member of the squirrel family, and they are fast! If they realize you are around, they can disappear in seconds. Their average size is between 2 and 6 inches long, and they have a life span between 2 to 3 years.
What a treat, adorable!! We had them out back over 60 years ago now.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny and thank you :) I remember seeing them for the first time several years ago while on holiday.
DeleteSuch a shortlived little cutie.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised. Thanks EC :)
DeleteThese photos are priceless. And, no, I have not seen them, so I'm happy you decided to share them again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anni :)
DeleteI enjoy seeing photos of the creatures that visit your garden. The chipmunk is tinier than I thought and seem very cute.
ReplyDeleteSo glad! The first time I saw anything like a chipmunk was Chip and Dale the cartoon characters. So surprised, and delighted, to see them here for the first time. Always enjoy seeing them.
DeleteI love chipmunks they are so cute. Have a good day, and stay safe, Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane, glad you enjoyed and I wish you the same :)

DeleteHello, the Chipmunks are so cute. I see them grabbing food to go on my deck. Sweet critters. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen, they are fun to watch. Happy day to you also :)
DeleteCute
ReplyDeleteThank you R's Rue :)
DeleteThese creatures are ever so sweet to me, so thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAs you probably guessed we don't have them down here.
Thank you Margaret! I enjoy the photos of the animals you have in NZ too :)
DeleteI've never seen one in real life and only seen pictures and I did not realize how tiny they are because the pictures looking at them they look like they're as big as squirrels. I'm so glad you showed these pictures are absolutely adorable I'd like to see one that's only two in that that would be even more adorable
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, so happy you enjoyed these. I once sat by a river while on holiday, and out popped two chipmunks foraging so close to me. It was in a pretty isolated spot so they weren't used to humans would imagine, and yet they stayed there in full sight of me for several minutes before they disappeared :)
Deletei have them here also, and they run with lightning speed. often we are sitting outside when they see us boom, they are gone. these are great captures, i adore the little purple flowers, i don't remember seeing these pictures in the past!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Debbie and I'm happy you enjoyed them :) I don't have that pretty bush any more with the purple flowers. Not by choice as I liked it too.
DeleteChipmunks have all but sadly disappeared here.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting Red, I should check out their range just out of curiosity. Thank you :)
DeleteThank you Agnieszka :)
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne :)

DeleteThey are so cute, Denise. We don't have them, but certainly have many squirrels!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Martha Ellen, our chipmunks are in competition with our squirrels :)
DeleteThey are so cute but they can cause a lot of trouble, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI know they can be Ellen. Cute little rascals though :) the little troublemakers, lol!
