I wanted to start off by thanking you for visiting me and leaving these lovely comments. I also want to thank all who have become followers of my blog. I see on my side bar that I have a few new also. Welcome and I wish each and every one of you to stay safe in this very surreal time we are all going through, in every part of the world.
My fences this week are from a Sunday ride in the Virginia countryside a few years ago. We came across this old shell of a home that was off the beaten path.
What stories those walls could tell.
The brickwork was grand and I imagined living in this home when it was first built. Even in its present state I thought it beautiful. I was also happy for the fences so I could join in Gosia's meme this week.
If you would like to see other Fences Around the World, or join in with your own, you will find the link here.
Thank you for hosting Gosia and thank you all for stopping by. As always, take good care of yourselves out there.
What beautiful masonry! It's a romantic looking place.

DeleteI am another one that liked the brickwork, Denise. Thanks for your lovely message above, and I hope you too have a peaceful time amidst all the chaos our world is working through.
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, all truly meant and thank you :)
DeleteIt's interesting to see where the old ruin of a house is located (nestled into the bank) and the fence has been put up along the contours of the slope. The stonework is amazing with all those different coloured pieces put together like a jigsaw puzzle. It must have taken quite a while to build. Thank you for your good wishes left on my blog and I return them. Stay safe and well and have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I loved its location also, still a very quiet dirt road. I tried to imagine what this place must have looked like when it was first built. The craftsmanship of its builder and putting those bricks together, he was an artist.
DeleteFantásticas estas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

ReplyDeleteThey sound lovely! We have homes made out of brick also and I think they are all pretty, but have to say I have never seen anything that struck me as pretty as this. Thanks Sandra :)
DeleteSome broken down remnants age so beautifully. If only we had a time-machine to go back to when it was inhabited.
ReplyDeleteHow very true Penelope and yes, if only :)

ReplyDeleteI would just love to know it's history!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too, I wondered how old it was. Where did they get that stone? The old stone houses I see are usually just one color.
DeleteI can never see the remains of old buildings like that without wondering what stories could be told about them. Great photos of the terrific brickwork.
