Dorothy, aka Beatrice at The Frog and The Penquin, asked if I would give some information about the motion censor camera. I use it on the deck to photograph our backyard birds, squirrels, and sometimes racoons.
I don't know why I picked this one in particular, as there are many available. I bought it with an Amazon gift card and you can see it here. Maybe you have one that you can also recommend. I intend to add another sometime, to put it in another part of our garden.
It is described as:
"FLAGPOWER Trail Camera 16MP 1080P Hunting Game Camera with Night Vision Motion Activated IP66 Waterproof 120 Detecting Range Motion Activated Night Vision 2.4" LCD IR LEDs 32 GB Memory Card
This was a gift from my family in Germany last Christmas, for which I am still thanking them for. I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, and now we have started taking it with us on trips.
I use the strap and not the attachment, to attach it to a post in front of the bird feeding area, or you can tie it to a tree as I did when we went away recently. It is left out for about 24 hours, sometimes longer, and I download it from the camera to my laptop.
It is rainproof but I have noticed that the lens fogs up a bit when it rains. It can also bring some neat effects at such times. This is not a deterrent for me as the lens always clears before it is retrieved.
You may have also seen in my deck cam posts that it takes a video. This can be done when you do the settings. I time them for 10 seconds but you can make them longer. You can do without the video if you prefer.
The batteries last about five days, depending on how many visitors you get. We get a lot. They take AA batteries and we get them in bulk from Costco.
I hope those of you who have one can offer more information as I would be very interested in any tips and tricks you can pass on.
Hopefully you have found this useful. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
I bet you'll have fun with this!
ReplyDeleteI certainly do Lady Fi.
DeleteI find this so interesting! But for me,it may be too challenging to work! I love how you have showed small inserts of the camera photos! My favorite is the crow/raven!
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, believe me, if I can do it, you can too. I felt that way when I first saw our new TV remote from the cable company, lol!
DeleteThank you for the details - and the delightful images you post.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome EC.
DeleteI have a Moultrie. The batteries last for months.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I have taken note.
DeleteHi Denise and thanks for providing all the info about your deck cam in reply to my question. The cost looked quite reasonable considering all the fun and great nature shots you have been posting. Unfortunately, in our current apt home, we wouldn’t be able to try one, but I so enjoy your captures. Thanks again, Dorothy
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Dorothy, and it would be difficult to use in your apartment. Maybe on your travels though? When we set up ours for the first time, it was fun to see what we had captured.
DeleteLindo estes passarinhos, gosto.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e um bom mês de Junho.

DeleteI may someday get one, I sure want one.. just can't justify buying it though right now... you already know how much I love your cam shots.. they are so sharp and good. I would be out side taking selfies of me and Big is I had one... have you tried that?
ReplyDeleteIt took me a long time to get one Sandra, it was always low on my priority list. But then the time was right and I'm glad I bought it. Those outside selfies of you and Big I would enjoy. I haven't tried taking selfies but do pick up candid shots when I refill the birdseed.
