VICTORIANA AT CHRISTMAS TIME

My post today was inspired by our blogging friend at Wisps of Words who shares the most wonderful pictures.  You can see her blog at this link, and you will see what I mean.  Over the last few months hubby has been sharing with me Victorian-style illustrations, knowing how much I like them. They are from a group on Facebook who live in the town where I grew up. He knows I am interested in these and also the historical photos occasionally shared.

Enjoy your day everyone, and thank you for stopping by.

  1. Beautiful and sweet. These idyllic drawings represent an era and tone that was likely never as slow paced as it seems but that we yearn for from the distance of time.

  2. Delightful!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing a link, to my blog. :-)

Like you, I love old fashioned illustrations, especially at this Time of Year. They set the mood, to slow us down. Even if we are determined to not get caught up, in the Holiday Hassle, it still keeps 'knocking-on-our- door'. All the adds on tv, and everywhere, this time of year.

Old fashioned illustrations, bring home the truth, that lots of money spent, is not really necessary, for Love to be shown.

Thank you for sharing these. And thank your husband, for collecting them, for you.

Beautiful old cards from a previous time, hard to believe these days that life was ever like this.

  4. These are all really sweet memories of holiday cards gone by and the same is true for birthday and other greetings of that area.

  5. Oh, Denise, I so love these...I love old cards, and I love old photos. I will find a spot that has old photos and spend hours looking at them. At the library of Congress is one place I look at old photos...but they fill me with a sort of sadness, too.

    1. Very happy you like them Rose. Me too but I never thought of looking in the library of congress. I'm going to have to make a note of that the next time we go. Thank you so much! I know what you mean, depending on the day I can look at old photos and feel the same way :) Hope you have recovered from your accident Rose, and that you are feeling more like yourself.

  8. I wish those cards were back in fashion again, there is so much warmth in them. By warmth I don't mean heat!!

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.

I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
