NOVEMBER POEM

November comes and November goes,
With the last red berries and the first white snows.

With night coming early and dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket and frost by the gate.

The fires burn and the kettle sing,
And earth sinks to rest until next Spring.

  1. A lovely poem - though not at all true of November here.

    1. Thanks EC, no November weather the way I think of November for you :) I would say roll on spring but I love this time of the year, when there is a bit of a nip in the air and the smell of wood smoke in the neighborhood.

  2. I know this poem! I really like it, too. And you paired it with the perfect picture. Sad to see it already dark when a little store is open.

  4. I like this poem, Denise. Fortunately the white snow hasn't arrived here and my personal wish is that it doesn't bother. Pretty, yes; inconvenient, yes. Hope you have a good weekend.

    1. Hi Valerie, no snow here yet either, though I did see some flurries shown one day next week. Snow is great when you don't have to get anywhere :)

  10. Hi Denide,
Wonderful words and very true, we have had the first snow but farther North than us, I can't wait for the earth to stop resting and the Spring arrive.
    All the best, John

  16. Autumn is my favorite season and November seems to be the single month it's celebrated. Sad that darkness comes so early in the evening now with daylight savings time. Snow doesn't bother me as we have nowhere we need to get to and indoor parking as well :-)
