So here we are again, the pathway blocked by the indomitable Canada Goose. No, I didn't feel like I was going to be running a gauntlet today. They all looked quite content, so I put my best foot forward, and enjoyed them as I slowly walked by, albeit a little cautiously.
What can I say? I love them, always have, always will.
They stared and I stared...

They can get quite feisty when guarding their nest, though. Bending their neck and hissing, they will chase too. Looks like none of these had a nest. Splendid pictures, you really captured the beautiful details. Look at how that one in the fourth picture has his leg sticking out backwards!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly can and no, there were no nests. I thought that they were young geese from one family, not that I am an expert. It just crossed my mind.
DeleteHah, they are all over Tulsa. Some are pugnacious and most others ignore humans. They are pretty though.

DeleteMy only encounter was at a time the birds were guarding a nest. Other than that I don't mind them hogging the walkways.

DeleteDarling photos of the geese. We had an encounter once on a walk. Daddy goose flying attack style at us. Scared us, but we understand the need to help mama goose as she sits on the nest. ♥

DeleteIt's not the geese that make me feel like I'm running a gauntlet -- but the "gifts" they leave behind! When we lived at the Lake here, I had a real love-hate relationship with them ... they are beautiful and it was a treat to watch them with their growing families (they are good parents and faithful partners too)... but we had to take our shoes off before we stepped into the RV because the walkways and grass were so dirty.
