"I have decided to find myself a home in the mountains, somewhere high up where one learns to live peacefully in the cold and the silence. It's said that in such a place certain revelations may be discovered. That what the spirit reaches for may be eventually felt, if not exactly understood. Slowly, no doubt. I'm not talking about a vacation.
Of course at the same time I mean to stay exactly where I am.
Are you following me?"

"A Thousand Mornings"
Mary Oliver is one of my favorite poets, maybe my all time favorite.

I think silence in particular is an essential for those voyages of self discovery...
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you :)
DeleteI have discovered in the last two years that too much silence can break the spirit, therefore, like medicine, it should be taken in small doses.
ReplyDeleteA very good point Valerie. Too much of anything isn’t necessarily good for us. I would never want to see anyone have their spirit broken and most certainly not yours my dear friend.
DeleteMagnifica esta cabana.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.
