OUR AZALEAS ARE BLOOMING

A few days ago they were tiny buds but a little heat, a little sunshine and we now have quite a show.  Always a welcoming sight.

The leaves were a pretty sight also, bright and green, and a lovely contrast to all that pink.

After a relatively cool spring, it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday, and it will be in the 80s for the next few days.

The neighborhood was quiet when we left this morning.  We had a few errands to run.  I need new walking shoes but couldn't find a pair that I liked.  The place I went to had real snazzy colors, all the shoe stores seem to.

As I am still stuck in that era when I bought my last walking shoes several years back, some of their colors were as pink as these azaleas.  There were also psychedelic lavenders and screaming-at-you blues.  I like those colors on my flowers, not on my feet.  I am still on the lookout for very plain walking shoes.  Somehow, I think I am going to get my exercise trying to find a pair.

  1. We need colour after all the dreadful weather so I am pleased to see masses of red tulips and bluebells in the garden. Good luck with the shoe hunt. Did I ever blog about my multi-coloured shoes?

    1. Thanks Sandra, I will probably be buying something a little more colorful. I am a bit of a fuddy-duddy when it comes to new fashions and busy colors.

  3. I like hiking sandals (TEVA) and adjustable leather ones (ECCO) most. After 30 years in Hawaii, shoes are too strange and confining (but boots are welcome in N. CA winter!

    1. Not really Victor, I have a bit of a toxic thumb so if something grows in my garden, it is one of the sturdy ones :)))

  5. Hi Denise,
Hope you surmount your problem in finding some walking shoes.
Your Azaleas are such a mass of colour, so beautiful and make a real show to the front of your property. You should be very proud of your gardening efforts.
    All the best, John.
I think you would look very trendy in Azalea pink shoes.

  7. I agree with you about those shoes on offer! We have been in Georgia for 6 years and I have struggled to have an azalea bush that would thrive. I loved seeing yours - thank you for sharing them with us. Take care. Jackie

  10. The azaleas are amazing!!! So beautiful.... that's quite a heat wave (normal here this time of year, but seems really hot for you(?). Good luck on the shoes -- I've almost given up on finding plain ones, I just try to find the least obnoxious colors possible. (I only wear one brand because they actually fit! Last year I snagged a plain black pair and you would have thought I won the lottery I was so happy! Alas, the gel insert is wearing out and I must replace.

  12. Very pretty , I love all the colour we have now after such a long dreary winter. I got my walking shoes from Walmart they are Dr Scholls and oh soo comfy and the price wasn't to bad . My Azaleas aren't doing well this year for some reason . I have them caged as deer and bunnies liked to nibble them but for some reason they still aren't blooming at all this year . Thanks for sharing hope you find a nice pair of walking shoes soon . Have a good weekend !

  13. I love azaleas but can't seem to get them to grow...seeing these makes me want to attempt it again

Every time I look for shoes, it gets harder and harder to find a pair that is to my liking and that feels good, too!

  14. How lovely and bright!!! We must be from the same era because I sure have quite a few colorful shoes, purses and hats too. (lol) I wasn't born then, but the 40's and 50's are my fave eras because the furniture and clothing was just so cool. I've watched Auntie Mame a zillion times for that reason. I wish I had your green thumb though because your garden is just phenomenal! Hugs...RO

    1. Hi RO, I like the 40s/50s music also for all those reasons. Believe me when I say, I do not have a green thumb. Azaleas seem to be resilient, thank goodness :)
