“Stories aren't just stories if they've been read through before, for once a cover has been opened they turn into something more. A fingerprint of everyone who's ever turned its pages, and a bookmark of the you you were when read at different ages. It's as though with each reread you leave a piece of you behind, a sliver of the past pressed for your future self to find. Until it's no longer the story that makes you pull it from the shelf, but the chance to reunite with younger versions of yourself.”
~Erin Hanson~
Amazing artwork! Is it yours?
ReplyDeleteNo Sandi, sorry I can't tell you who did it. It was a wall mural over a fence and I couldn't get close enough to see the name of the artist.
DeleteHello Denise, Pretty murals and images. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, happy day to you too :)
Deletewhat a super duper quote. i love it.. it is amazing how we change at different times in our life, and the books seem different than they did the first time we read them. the book hasna't change but we have
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Sandra, yes it is amazing.
DeleteBooks! Great post
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia :)
DeleteErin Hanson writes beautifully and her words make one think. I also enjoyed your earlier posting of her poem There Is A Fable. Her thoughts are deep and a wonderful place to linger.
ReplyDeleteI like her body of work also. You will probably be seeing more quotes and poems sometime :)
DeleteVery colourful murals, Denise!
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed William, I felt compelled to take my photos of all that beautiful color.
DeleteTruth.
ReplyDeleteNot only the writer but the reader has something to bring to the table.
Nice interpretation EC, thank you.
DeleteBeautiful murals and words.
ReplyDeleteI agree Christine, they both spoke to me in so many ways.
DeleteHow true. I caught my 19 year old daughter reading a child's book one time and she told me that you get different things out of the story when you reread at different ages.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter sounds very wise at 19 Red.
Deleteso much going on in the pictures, so much going on in reading and so much going on in our minds, love the possibilities
ReplyDeleteNeverending right? :)
DeleteInteresting quote. The pictures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda :)
DeleteHow true! I have an Alice in Wonderland book first published in 1929 and reprinted in 1929, 1930, 1934 and 1939, until it reached me in 1941. Read and reread many times so I think there's a lot of me inside those covers. An Alice in Wonderland is dated 1945, and a book of Black Country stories reprinted in 1934. Treasures that hold lots of memories for me.
ReplyDeleteHow neat to have those old books. I would be reading them a lot too.
DeleteGostei bastante destas pinturas.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Thank you Francisco :)
DeleteAs I was curious about the artwork and the writing posted here, Denise, I looked up Ms. Hanson and wondered if you visited her gallery in San Diego. I enjoyed checking out a great many more of her works, which seem to be mainly landscapes. Can you provide some info on the works in this post?
ReplyDeleteHello Dorothy, sorry I can't help you with the artwork. I couldn't get close enough to see a signature. It was a mural on a wall of a building next to a restaurant we had been to. There was a fence preventing me from getting any closer. No I didn't realize Erin Hanson had a gallery in San Diego. Something to put on the list for the next time we go. Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteI suppose I understand the sentiment in this quote. Sometimes, when I read my books I ask myself, "Did I really write that?"
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you for the input Victor :)
DeleteThat's a wonderful quote from Erin Hanson.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I enjoyed it also Jan.
DeleteThe paintings are wonderful and the quote thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteI am happy you enjoyed them Sallie.
