OLD FAMILY PHOTO - CONFIRMATION
I have already shared an old photo of the same family here. There are more in the group that I will be posting. In the meantime here is another in the series, two of the sisters at their Confirmation. They are Gregg's first cousins, twice removed.

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.
I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
Wow! That is such an awesome photo and I love those beautiful, frilly dresses. It must have taken a long time to sew such creations.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine and I also loved those boots.
DeleteThis picture does not show any wear or deterioration at all, it looks new! They are so fancy! And can you imagine putting those boots on? I think there used to be long hooks for boots with buttons. The hair of the girl on the left is still popular today.
ReplyDeleteIt was an online photo Ginny and the quality It is excellent. They would have to devote a long time to dress. I was thinking the same about the hairstyle.

ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret.
DeleteYou and Gregg are so lucky to have these precious mementos.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly feel that way EC.
DeleteElegant young ladies!
ReplyDeleteAgreed :) Thanks Sallie!
DeletePictures are not like that anymore.... loved this one, and loved those boots.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed Valerie, these photos were special in those days weren’t they?
DeleteBeautiful! I have a lot of old photos inherited from my grandmother and they all show the same attention to details, outfits, posture, background, they don't make them like they used to.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Thank you Amalia. How wonderful you have your grandmother's old photos. Around the world we are all connected. My family's photos from England show the same detail and no, they certainly don't make them like they used to.
DeleteThank you for sharing another delightful image, gorgeous cousins!

You are very welcome Baili and thank you :)
Deletethis is really a good photo to have been taken so long ago. I wonder if the shoes were white? if so this is the first I have seen
ReplyDeleteI am only assuming they were. Maybe special for confirmation, or weddings, or other special occasions?
DeleteWOW! Full white. Looks good!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteHello, what a beautiful photo. It is great to see Gregg's family photos. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, very happy you enjoyed them. Happy day to you :)
DeleteConfirmation seemed to be a a much more significant event at that t ime.
ReplyDeleteI think so Red.
DeleteWow. Such outfits!
ReplyDeleteI know :)
DeleteHeather Went out for a coffee and a chat with her confirmation buddies last week. They were confirmed at Canterbury Cathedral several years ago and the three of them meet up at least once a year. I hope you are both doing okay. Slow stuff here but I am meeting up with an old primary school friend who I last saw 50 years ago.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely for Heather to have her Confirmation in Canterbury Cathedral Don, and to keep in touch with her friends, that's very special. Enjoy the visit with your old school friends. That's very special too :)
DeleteVery formal, as you'd expect of the occasion.
ReplyDeleteYes they were, fits in with the era I think.
DeleteWhat lovely ladies!
ReplyDeleteI agree Cloudia :)
DeleteWhat a lovely photo of two very attractive young ladies. Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane, I thought so too.
DeleteThese are some really nice pictures, and part of family history too. It's always nice to have a name to attach to the family members you are viewing
ReplyDeleteThanks Jimmy, I have been enjoying these photos and feel lucky we have them.
DeleteThese old photographs are wonderful and so lovely to still have in the family. I often see old photographs in charity shops or car boot sales and I always feel sad that they are not being treasured. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteThank you, we feel blessed to have these of family members. I know what you mean, I used to see old old photos in a used book shop which we haven't been to in a very long time. You have put the thought into my head :)
DeleteGood looking women! When it gets to first cousins twice removed I started to get confused as to what the relationship is!
ReplyDeleteIt took us a while to figure it out when Gregg first started this genealogy journey.
DeleteSo poignant. These old black and white photos are truly a work of art!
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t have put it better myself Penelope. Thank you!
DeleteI agree with the previous comments, Denise, that the quality of this photo is outstanding. There is nothing quite like black and white vintage. The young ladies who are the subjects are lovely and I wondered if you and Gregg knew their names.
ReplyDeleteHi Dorothy, thank you. We do know their names but don’t publish for privacy reasons. We have asked another cousin who knew them well and they were as I had expected, truly nice people with a great sense of humor.
DeleteI love those beautiful dresses, but the shoes really caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteHi Lois, those shoes are very smart aren’t they?
DeleteThis photo has such clarity, it's unbelievable that it is an old picture.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed with its quality too.
DeleteFabulous. Love those dresses!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, me too.
DeleteJust fabulous photographs ... the dresses are gorgeous but it was the boots too that caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Those boots are fabulous aren’t they?
DeleteLook at that hair! And I look at the clothing in old photos and wondered who made them. Did the mother sew these or were they bought? And were they made with a sewing machine or stitched by hand...
ReplyDeleteGreat questions Rose, I wish I knew the answers.
