THE FAIRY GARDEN AT MEADOWLARK GARDENS

"Fairies: mythical creatures.  A fairy is a type of mythical being or legendary creature in European folklore, a kind of spirit often described as metaphysical, supernatural or preternatural."  I found this snippet here.

I have a dear friend who occasionally says, "Ah, don't mind me, I'm away with the fairies".  Like me she is from over the pond.  Liking the expression, I had an idea what it meant, had heard it before but I looked the meaning up.  It means to be in a daydream, sometimes to be deep in thought and having one's gaze unfocused while staring at nothing in particular.

The following is
A Fairy Song
Poem by William Shakespear

Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Thorough food, thorough fire!
I do wander everywhere,

Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the Fairy Queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green;
The cowslips tall her pensioners be;

In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours;

In those freckles live their savours;
I must go seek some dewdrops here,
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.

Spread your wings and let the fairy in you fly.
~author unknown~

The wall is silence, the grass is sleep,
Tall trees of peace their vigil keep,
And the Fairy of Dreams with moth-wings furled
Plays soft on her flute to the drowsy world.

  2. Thought about doing a fairy garden in the flower bed but have decided against it. I have enough stuff out there and I don't need to collect anything else.

  4. These are wonderful! I have some Fairy Garden photos, but not nearly as pretty as yours! First, I love the blue mushrooms! And there is one black one! So much detail. There is a tiny little birdbath with a butterfly in it! The yellow house is my favorite, but I love the awesome house with the blue pansies around it..The house with the blue door has a beautiful walkway. Each time I go back, I see new things. wouldn't it be great to spend a day or a week in a village like this?

    I've been known to use that expression too.... "She's off with the Faeries." Got it from the British and Irish IG's, I have followed. :-)

  16. Delightful! I do enjoy seeing pictures of fairy villages although never have in real life.

    'having one's gaze unfocused while staring at nothing in particular'... I seem to do a lot of that lately!
