When we were at the Library of Congress last week, I was surprised but delighted to see old photos on display, in a room that also featured many photos and documents relating to Bob Hope, which I will share in a later post. I had a great time looking at them.
I thought I would again share with Tom's Tuesday's Treasures. I grew up in England watching old black and white Hollywood movies on TV, and know most of the stars shown.
Thank you for hosting Tom.

great find of these old photos. Wonderful to see them.
ReplyDeleteSome great names there. Thanks for this, Denise, it certainly took me back a few decades.
ReplyDeleteThose photos would stir a lot of people's memories.
ReplyDeleteFascinating history here, Denise! The photos of the stars of yesteryear are great!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
WOW, look at Bob Hope, he was just a kid! I haven't been to the Library of Congress in years. Thanks for the tour Denise, perhaps I'll get there in person some day. I hope that you will return again with more treasures.
ReplyDeletei love these old photos...i can stare at them all day!
ReplyDeleteGreat post and info I did not know about. Great place to learn, reading blogs.
ReplyDeleteI was at the Library of Congress when I was a kid. I know it would mean a lot more to me to visit there now. We have British friends who love all the old American western. No wonder people think we're all cowboys. While Americans were having shootouts, the British were having cozy murders. Lol
ReplyDeletei love the photo of the three stars, all of whom i remember well, pointing to the photos. i was a huge fan of bob hope... and love a lot of the old black and white movies..
ReplyDeleteI do know quite a few of them too. It's weird seeing Groucho without the mustache!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great tour, thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about that Hollywood Canteen. Slightly before I was old enough to read and drool over movie magazines. I would definitely recognize all of those old stars though -- they were still mostly active during the early 50s. Plus there are all those great old movie channels which I still look at occasionally.
ReplyDeleteThese are fun treasures for sure. Great looking back to these times...

ReplyDeletegreat post! I remember watching Bette Davis in old movies.
ReplyDeleteThe HOllywood stars were always good about entertaining the troops. I recognize most of the names from old movies. Interesting memorabilia.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love libraries, but I never thought about visiting the Library of Congress. Your photos make me want to plan a trip.
ReplyDeleteSuper to see these photo's.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I have never been a big movie fan so the focus on the stars wouldn't interest me much, but the historical perspective revealed in the exhibits sure would.
