We are having a quiet start to the morning, after doing a lot of site-seeing since my Brother-in-law arrived. It has been wonderful seeing him and showing him our area. And there have been lots of laughs and good memories about old times, as well as enjoying the present.
We also have gotten around to a few places I have never seen before, for instance the Library of Congress. I was in awe of not only the amazing displays inside, but also the decorative ceilings, walls, columns. Incredible!
I will do another post on that magnificent building, but in the meantime I thought I would share a few photos with Tom's Tuesday's Treasures.

Mesmerizing and magnificent architecture, Denise. We have a similar institution here- but the architecture is decidedly more modern and less appealing!

ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I have been to this magnificent library, Denise, and Pat has never been there so it may be a desrination on a future DC visit. Glad you are having a wonderful visit and it's a great excuse to get out and re-visit places too!
ReplyDeleteYour bringing back old memories for me. I spent hours doing research in this library when I worked for Congress. I was offered a job with the Congressional Research Service back in the 1970s, but turned it down to work for a privte firm that offered more money. I have often wondered if I would have had a different life if I had gone on from there. Alas, a road not taken? As it was, when I moved to the Census Bureau in the late 1980s, I ended up assisting staff people at the CSR, because the Census Bureau is a major source of the information Congressional staff need.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! We just wrote to our congressman to reserve a space to see the congressional building. It will be fun to see it with our granddaughter this summer.
