Nothing too exciting today, just following a school bus on our way home after having lunch out. They were heading to pick up the kids that you can see on the left of my photo. It was great to get out.
I was surprised the schools weren't closed as I had read that they were yesterday.
Snow has melted a smidgen. We saw several people trying to make some headway on their driveways. I saw one man even using a pitchfork, another a pole driver.
On the main road, even with the roads cleared by the plows, there were cars stuck and their cars were buried up to their windows in snow and ice, by the snowplows I'm assuming. These are people who live in an area where there is only one parking spot available in front of their homes. If more than one car they are parked in this area. I think it will be a while before they can use their vehicles.
Anyhow, it will give you an idea of what our conditions are like. Not so bad as some have it, I know.
Wherever you are I hope you are keeping safe and warm, and thanks for stopping by.

We received 1/2 inch of freezing and most of the city looks like a disaster area from all the damaged trees. Looks like you had plenty of snowfall and freezing rain yourself.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awful! We did but we didn’t lose power which helped a lot. I hope everything returns to normal for your area Yvonne :)
DeleteSo what is your situation, do you have a driveway or a garage? Many cars here are still buried, and we only just got out today. Our son was just saying he feels bad for the school bus drivers. They have to make such wide turns, but there are piles of snow all over the roads and corners.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking Ginny :) We have both. The problem is our driveway is very steep and can be treacherous in bad weather conditions. Good to know you are finally getting out. I am with your son on the school bus drivers.
DeleteSo glad you could get out for lunch. It looks and sounds cold and inconvenient. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! From what you said earlier, you are dealing with excessive heat. You stay safe and cool :)
DeleteNice photo! :) Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you and I wish you the same :)
DeleteSchool buses always bring a sense of normalcy even in tough weather.
ReplyDeleteHope the snow clears soon and you can enjoy easier outings!
Very true Veronica :) Thank you, much appreciated!
DeleteLovely photo Denise. Interesting to read your post regarding going out and the snow.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm.
Thank you Margaret :) my snowy surroundings always fascinate me when we are able to get out safely.
DeleteIn weather like this I'm glad I have a driveway to park in. Still the snowplows do tend to fill in the end when they go by though.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is nice being able to get off the road. Even when we couldn’t get out of our driveway, we were grateful to get our car tucked in.
DeleteIt's a good thing that the school buses can keep going. Too much snow! Too cold!
ReplyDeleteAgree on all counts :)
DeleteStay warm and stay safe. It has been a challenging winter for many.
ReplyDeleteThank you David, much appreciated :) It certainly has.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the kiddies having to wait outside for the school bus in this cold weather. The sidewalks still seem to be an icy mess. I have heard one person saying they used an ax to chop up the ice on his driveway. Take care, have a great day!
Me too! Necessity is the mother of invention. That thick ice certainly needed something like that. Usually our winters are much milder. This was a doozy! You take care and have a great day also:)
Deletethis is really inconvenient, and I am ashamed that I have been whining over the inconvenience of layers of clothing and dreading walking Beau because its to cold.. our cold is nothing compared to yours
ReplyDeleteNo need I promise you and I certainly don’t consider you have been whining. I hope you will be warming up soon :)
DeleteNice shot
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine :)
DeleteYou have a lot of snow and great snow photos!
ReplyDeleteHere in the north, everything is closed too because of snow and ice.
Yesterday I was glad to get out; we had to take care of something at the bank, but the wind was so strong we could barely make it to the bus stop!
Have a good day, hugs, Elke
Thank you Elke :) I have been enjoying your photos. That wind sounded very challenging. Glad you both arrived home safely. You have a good day also, hugs, Denise.
DeleteStill so much snow there....the weather here is really nice..2-8C degrees and even sunny..
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely Angie :)
DeleteDo people not know how to handle the snow anymore? A pitchfork? A post pounder?
ReplyDeleteWe are learning in action :) our snow shovels were useless with this icy snow. It was also very unusual weather for us.
DeleteIt's been snowy here. I didn't leave the house yesterday!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of snow to deal with Jenn. I am glad you stayed inside :)
DeleteThe school bus has changed very little over the decades. I wonder if the are still freezing cold in the winter.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a good point Sandra :)
DeleteI guess as long as it's urban, the school buses can manage. It soon gets rural here beyond town limits.
ReplyDeleteThanks John :) We do seem to have very well trained school bus drivers here. I do wonder how they manage in the more rural areas.
DeleteThat is nice that the kids can still get to school. Thanks for sharing the conditions where you live. We are still unseasonably warm here. There is still plenty of winter left to see possible changes. Have a great Wednesday, Denise.
ReplyDeleteI agree Ellen :) I hope your winter stays warm. You have a great Wednesday too.
DeleteIt's very bad for you because you don't have the equipment or knowledge to handle so much snow. We couldn't handle that much snow.
ReplyDeleteI have thought about this Red, the differences in how the northern climes tackle all their snow. My sister and her family lived for many years in Norway, and winter was always looked forward to. No doubt they had a lot of equipment that we wouldn’t normally need :)
DeleteCrazy weather Denise. Schools here were on a two hour delay today.
ReplyDeleteHad remote learning Monday and Tuesday. This concerns me a bit as I hope all kids have access to a computer and internet.
Hugs Cecilia
Very much so Cecilia :) I understand your concern. Hugs, Denise
DeleteStill no snow in Scotland Denise, but they say it might come this week. Though we don't get the same level as snow are you guys do! :-D
ReplyDeleteThat’s interesting Ananka. Thanks for sharing that. I always imagined Scotland would have a whole lot more for some reason :)
DeleteHave a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, you also :)
DeleteOh my, be careful in all that snow! Hope it warms up for you soon. I read somewhere to always keep a towel in your car. You can put it down to step on it when there is icy snow.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a darned good idea Kay. Thank you for that great tip! :)
DeleteNo snow here, but a lot of rain ... some areas have been flooded.
ReplyDeleteIt seems worldwide the weather is causing problems.
I do like your school bus photograph.
All the best Jan
Sorry about the flooding :) and I agree with you. All the best, Denise
DeleteWhen I was a kid they only closed schools for snow -- really intense snow. Now they seem to do it for cold. Extreme cold, but cold, nonetheless. It was cold back then too -- and we walked to school. And girls wore skirts!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Can’t imagine how cold you must have felt. Different times eh? :)
DeleteBuena foto. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was great to get out. I'm still shoveling and trying to make some more headway from that big storm over a week ago.
ReplyDeleteI like your photo - do you take with a camera or your phone? I also like the word smidgen. I think I know where it comes from!
ReplyDeleteThat's about what it's still looking like here as well.
ReplyDeleteNice picture of the school bus.
