“Mary Ann Evans (November 22nd, 1819 - December 22nd, 1880), alternatively Mary Anne or Marian, known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist, poet, journalist, translator, and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. Like Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy, she emerged from provincial England; most of her works are set there.” More can be read if you click on her pseudonym George Eliot underneath the quote.”
I absolutely love the quote. And the beautiful pink and yellow flowers
ReplyDeleteSo glad Ginny, and thank you :)
DeleteDenise, I love the Victorian era. Beautiful flowers and excellent quote. Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend 🧡
ReplyDeleteAnd hello to you too dear friend :) one of my favorite era's also. Thank you and you are very welcome.

Greetings Elkes, and thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed and you have a beautiful day also, hugs, Denise xo
DeleteGood quote, makes for thinking.
ReplyDeleteVery much so, thank you Margaret :)
DeleteI love that! That's a beautiful thought. It's lovely if we can make each other's life a little bit easier.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole, many of us will always try to do that :)
DeleteLove the quote and the flowers are pretty. Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, thank you Eileen. You take care and have a great day also :)
DeleteWhat a great quote. Too bad more people didn't live by that. I know far too many people who take great pleasure in making life difficult for other people.
ReplyDeleteThose mums are so pretty.
Thank you Ann. It starts with us, maybe we can get a snowball running downhill effect, gathering momentum. I live in hope :)
DeleteThank goodness women no longer have to resort to male noms de plume to have their works published.
ReplyDeleteAlways amazed me! Others were, Charlotte Brontë (Currer Bell), Emily Brontë (Ellis Bell), Agnes Mure Mackenzie (Robert Mure), and Mary Jane Ward (Robert Ward). They all adopted these names to have their work taken more seriously in a male-dominated literary world. But as you say, thank goodness women don't have to do that now David.
DeleteLovely quotation, but I misread it, leaving out 'less.' 🤣😂
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found it so Janice :) And yes, pays to read these quotes a few times. I keep rereading them myself to make sure I don't make any mistakes, which of course could completely turn the quote in another direction.
DeleteBeautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne :)
Deletethis quote needs to be hanging on my wall in every room to remind me that is why we live
ReplyDeleteI know this is something you are immersed in every day Sandra. You do so much for your Bob and Beau and others :) You are an inspiration my dear friend.
DeleteI don’t think I ever knew about Eliot’s identity.
ReplyDeleteMe too, finding out one sent me on the road to finding out more :)
DeleteThat George Eliot quote is a powerful one to stop and think about. It really cuts through all the noise.
ReplyDeletewww.melodyjacob.com
Couldn't have put it better myself Melody, thank you :)
DeleteLovely quote.
ReplyDeleteDenise, I made an improvement to my method of drying tarragon here:

Glad you liked it Christine and thank you for the link. I will check it out soon :)
DeletePretty bunch of flowers! I do not think I realized George Eliot was pseudonym. If I did, I don't remember. :) We do own the Middlemarch series on DVD that was created from her book. Thanks for jogging my brain this morning, Denise.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we forget and need a refresher. That's what I find for myself anyhow. Blogging is a great tool to put down things we want to remember. You are very welcome and thank you Ellen :)
DeleteToo bad she had to use a male name.
ReplyDeleteI agree Sandra, and so many others had to also :)
DeleteDenise
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quote and flower.
WE all need to practice kindness to all we meet. We never know what is going on in their lives. A simple smile and a good morning can make a day
Hugs cecilia

Deletelovely...what a great picture and quote. making life easier for someone is really a blessing, for both people!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie, the flowers were bought recently and are out back. A true blessing for both, very much so.
DeleteAnd then there's Jane Austen who asked what are neighbors for if not to make fun of them...
ReplyDeleteThanks for that quote Boud, I had not heard of that one :0
DeleteA very good philosophy. I wish more people in power floowed that thinking.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marci, hopefully people will realize we will all be happier helping others, eventually. We can't control what others do but as I mentioned to Ann, it starts with us :)
Deleteoops followed.
ReplyDeleteGotcha, I have my own typos ;)
DeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Regine, hope you are having a great day today my dear friend :)
DeleteLovely flowers and lovely quote :-D
