we were on one of those lovely, shady country lanes when I spotted something among the trees. I asked Gregg to slow down and as we approached this particular spot, I saw the deer.
I wasn't expecting to see any today. It has been a long time since my last sighting, but there she was, a total surprise.
She certainly didn't seem to mind that we stopped. She was alert but not skittish. We were close as I used my cell phone for these photos. I took them with Gregg leaning back so that I could get a decent shot through the driver's side window. Sometimes I think in these situations, being in a car is an advantage.
I was able to take a few photos, but we could see a car coming up behind us and we moved on.
Awwwww...she is adorable, Denise. It looks as if she enjoyed your company and being the star of your photo shoot for a few moments. Thanks 😊 🫂 so much for sharing these beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly was Linda, it seemed so :) You are very welcome and I am happy you enjoyed my pictures. Thank you very much!
DeleteCute and a lovely shot, yes being in car was good if you had been out or got out of it there might not be a photo.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right Margaret and thank you :)
DeleteAnd look at those ears!! And the greens are just luscious!! I bet this made your whole month!
ReplyDeleteYes, her ears were amazing. Everything is so green right now, thanks to all the rain we've had. You're right, it made my whole month. I was not expecting to see any deer as it has been a few months since I spotted the last one :) Thanks Ginny!
DeleteWhat a wonderful surprise! Moments like these make countryside drives so special. The deer looks so peaceful—what a beautiful encounter!
ReplyDeleteIt was, thank you Veronica, and very true! It was kind of magical for me :)
DeleteWhat a cutie. Well spotted (and photographed).
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue, I was surprised I saw her as it's usually hubs who is the eagle-eyed spotter in this family :)
DeleteHappy Sunday 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you Ashok and a happy Sunday to you also :)
DeleteThere’s something quietly magical about locking eyes with a wild creature like that, especially when it chooses to linger.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Roentare, I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you! :)
DeleteLovely to see when they aren’t in one’s garden eating the roses…which is what happened to me a few years ago! 🤣😱 Hope that you are enjoying the weekend! Sal 😁
ReplyDeleteHad to smile Sal, I remember a friend telling me that she woke up one morning to see a dozen or so of her tulips gone. She knew who the culprit was that ate them. We had a great weekend thank you (I am writing this on Monday now). Hope you did too :)
DeleteBeautiful little creature. I always feel so privileged when I see deer.
ReplyDeleteMe too Janice, me too :) and she was absolutely beautiful!
DeleteYou got good pictures of her through the car window. I always manage to get part of the car in the shot. Phooey on the other car coming.
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean Ann and phooey indeed but for a country road it sure was well traveled. We pulled into several road openings to let a lot of them overtake us. I have a few car window frames in my pictures. I am very glad for the cropping tool :) Fortunately she was close enough that I didn't have to worry about that.
DeleteAww!
ReplyDeleteIndeed Sandi :)
DeleteIn the areas where I see deer they are generally not skittish. They have become accustomed to humans and their vehicles, and they have no natural predators to worry about.
ReplyDeleteThey still seem to retain their flight instincts here David. I think if we had lingered, she would have taken off. Her ears were turning in our direction quite a bit.
DeleteShe is pretty, I always love seeing the deer! Take care, have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI agree Eileen and thank you, the same to you :)
DeleteFun find! We see them quite often where I live but I am surrounded by large tracts of forest.
ReplyDeleteI still admire them when I see them and curse at them when they are leaping into the road.
Hi Val, it certainly was :) I envy your location if you see them often. I worry about them near busy roads.
DeleteGreat photos :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Ananka, much appreciated :)
DeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteVery much so, thank you Anne :)
DeleteShe looks great in that country setting! Nice shots! Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, it was a real blessing to see her in this location. It's Monday here and it won't be too long before it's midnight, so I will say Happy Tuesday :)
Deleteshe is so precious! and I am a tad jealous. I have never seen a deer in the wild
ReplyDeletePrecious is a great word for her Sandra :) The only deer I have seen in Florida is the Key Deer on one of our trips down to Key Largo many years ago. I guess they are not seen anywhere else down that way.
DeleteLovely sighting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine, it certainly was :)
DeleteRather bold little critter. The situation is that some of her buddies crossed the road before you came and she /he just wants to cross the road.
ReplyDeleteProbably Red :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful pose and looking right at you
ReplyDeleteHugs cecilia
We were very lucky Cecilia, it was a gift :) Sending hugs!
DeleteMira con curiosidad y permanece quieto y observando todo lo que pasa,
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una buena semana.
Una hermosa descripción de este momento :) También te deseo una buena semana y gracias por visitarme.
DeleteIs so lovely to have the possibility of to live near these natural áreas with all these Wild Life. The photographs are excellent.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, I appreciate you saying so :) We are blessed in that it only takes half an hour to reach the countryside.
DeleteUy que lindo. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias por tu lindo comentario. Te mando un beso :)
DeleteThose are such sweet photos of the doe. She is so pretty and seemed happy enough for you to take her picture from the car window.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley, it certainly felt like she was okay with us being there for a few moments :)
DeleteThese photos are wonderful. I love seeing the deer and she doesn't seem terribly shy. Beautful, Denise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie, it was most definitely a gift :)
DeleteThat's great that you saw the deer and shot it. Well done.
ReplyDeleteIt was, very much so :) Thanks Ivy and I appreciate you saying that.
DeleteSo sweet! I think, dear are usually not afraid of cars. They don’t recognize them as a threat.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, I think you are right :)
