RANDOM PHOTO

I was missing the back yard wildlife after running out of sunflower seeds.  I like to feed the squirrels as well as the birds.  They are a welcome sight and their antics never fail to entertain.

I usually stop feeding them as the weather gets warmer, when there is plenty of natural food around.  I have a feeling I will be continuing for a while longer as I love to watch them.  When I saw our little friend here chowing down, she didn't seem to be missing those sunflower seeds.  Those of the Red Maple in my neighbor's yard seemed to put the same expression of euphoria on her face.  You will see more of her in another post.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!

Two posts in one day for me is unusual, but I didn't want any more time to go by before wishing those of you who are celebrating, A Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

I am not sure how long it will be before we can get out again, so you will be seeing a lot of old and random photos in the near future.  I do have a few more recent ones I haven't shared,  and will get them done sometime.  Graphics today were found at Pixabay here

Take good care of yourselves out there, wishing you all happiness and good health, and once again,
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

RANDOM PHOTOS

I only have the use of my iPad for the next few days and I still am unable to leave comments when using that.  Things will be back to normal after Wednesday and I will be catching up then.

It is fun to come across unusual mailboxes.  The owners of this one were very creative.
This is the same photo but it is cropped.

When we go to a new area we like to get off the beaten path, and this often takes us a drive through neighborhoods.  You just never know what you are going to come across.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day.

MORE DRIVING AROUND

The same photo but I cropped the one below.  We were driving by and as it was on his side I asked Gregg if he would take a photo while we were waiting at the traffic light.  I know nothing about the sculpture, other than that we have been driving by it for as long as we've lived in our present home, many many years.  I like it a lot but no search online gave me any information.  I just enjoy.  It depicts a young girl having thrown a frisbee to her dog, with the frisby in the dog's mouth.

RANDOM PHOTOS

I haven't done a random photo post in a while, and I thought why not do a collection in this one.  The first photo shows a pretty color combination of Gerbara Daisies.  They were being sold in the front of one of our local supermarkets

We decided to have a bite to eat before shopping, and after picking up a tray of vegetable sushi and a drink, we headed to the dining area.  After lunch we started in the vegetable section and bought bananas, mushrooms, a sweet red pepper, a cauliflower, a big bag of birdseed, and a few other sundries.  This was not a big shopping trip. We got into a conversation with our young cashier as she rang our groceries up.  We are always impressed with the friendliness of the staff here.

A wasp landed on the patio door and it didn't budge for a long time.  I think they are building a nest inside the outside light fixture.  I don't really want to look inside.  They seem to build one every year.

This was a print in our bedroom at the Airbnb the weekend before last. Thought it was pretty enough to take a photo of.  I have said that a few times.

I like the quote.  I can't remember where I found it.

These two photos were taken when we were driving through Culpeper, Virginia, on the Friday of the Memorial Day Weekend.  I would have liked to have gotten a better photo of the mural, but my reaction time is slowing down.  Maybe we will take a trip back sometime.  I think the figure is supposed to be George Washington who, among his many accomplishments, was also a land surveyor.  You can read all about that here if interested.

Added note: If you go to this link you will see photos and more information on the mural.

Next are the Asiatic Lilies we found for sale outside another supermarket.  Thought they were lovely.

More lovely flowers.

I found a postcard in my collection for the State of Virginia.  Not only pretty but informative.

This past weekend we took a ride up to Skyline Drive.  It was a sunny day but on the chilly side.  Should have been more prepared as we were both in short sleeves, the weather having been warm for the previous few days.  The only thing I knew about the weather was that it was going to be sunny, that it would be a great day for a drive, and it was. I will do a post of our trip later.  So what is the ice-cream picture all about?  We know a place on our way home, and the car knows how to get here.  It is nothing fancy.  Nowhere to sit down inside, in fact no inside at all for the general public, a building with a large menu of various ice-cream flavors and drinks, and a sliding glass window where you order.  The seating is outside to the right of the building, where you sit under a large canopy.  I got a hot fudge sundae and Gregg got his root beer float.  Forty-five minutes later we were home.

Thanks for looking at my random photos, and have a great day.

RANDOM PHOTO AND A QUOTE

I am in the middle of a larger post but in the interim I am sharing this interesting artwork I saw in a restaurant recently.  I added the quote.

RANDOM PHOTO

An evening with our son and daughter-in-law at the Alamo Drafthouse. They have the most interesting old movie clips before the main movie, this one dating back to the early talkies.  If you have never been to one of these places, there is a long bench wide enough that acts as your table, and this runs all along in front of the seating, and a menu and order slips at each seat where you can order meals and beverages.  There is enough room between your bench and the seat in front for a waiter to come by and pick them up, and delivers soon after.  The seats are also staggered enough that you don't block the view of the people behind you, or disturb the people in front.  It took me a while to get used to having something delivered after the movie had started and I wasn't sure I liked it that much, but now after several meet-ups with son and daughter-in-law at one of their favorite movie theaters, I find it part of a very enjoyable experience.

RANDOM PHOTO

On our way to meet up with our son and daughter-in-law, I saw this rather proud rooster on the side of the road. A quick shot taken last August as we were turning the corner at a traffic light.

While visiting our family a couple of weeks ago, I looked up at their pretty chandelier and had to grab my cell phone.

2017 CROSS-COUNTRY ROAD TRIP - RANDOM PHOTO - ON THE ROAD

On the way from Lubbock, Texas to Santa Fee, New Mexico.

A lucky shot taken as we were flying along at 75 mph - yes that was the speed limit along those long stretches of road in Texas, and still we were being overtaken.  I was, just in case anyone is wondering about our safety even further, in the passenger seat.  We had been seeing thousands and thousands (no exaggeration) of turbine windmills filling the skyline.  When this one turned up I quickly grabbed my iPAD, rolled down the window and hung onto it for dear life, and this is the result.  The old windmill was still working.

RANDOM PHOTO AND A POEM

Squatter's Rights
by Richard Shaw

Listen kitten, get this clear,
This is my chair, I sit here.

Okay kitty, we can share;
When I'm not home, it's your chair.

Listen cat how about if I use it
When you're out?
