DRIVING HOME THE OTHER DAY WE CAME ACROSS A MURAL

Two or three weeks' ago our GPS took us by, but my reactions weren't fast enough to take a photo.
Last Sunday we were on the same road and I remembered the mural in time to get my cell phone ready.  There were a lot of cars coming and going, and it wasn't possible to stop.  I took my photos from the passenger seat, and kept my fingers crossed.
I looked on line but I couldn't find anything about the artist, or that of his work. It shows George Washington on the right with the Colonial Flag behind him (famously connected to Betsy Ross, who is said to have made the original - there's a story), The Capitol on his left and the Washington Monument on his right.  His home, Mount Vernon, is further along on the left. The mural was on the side of a hotel and next time we drive by I hope to get its name.

Some great quotes by George Washington are at this website.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day.

  1. Well done. I very rarely succeed in taking half way decent photos from the car.

  2. You did a great job with the photos, considering the circumstances! I think my favorite part is the beautiful horse! Lovely mural.

    1. Thank you Ginny, I've asked hubby if we could actually pull into the hotel next time, so that we can read the artist's signature.

  6. That's a very beautifully rendered mural. Some artists are so talented to paint on such a large scale.

  8. I find my phone takes better photos from a moving vehicle than my camera does. But not as good as yours! :)

    1. Thank you Pauline, I appreciate that. My phone also takes better photos than my point and shoot. The colors are much more vibrant.

  9. Well done for taking photos whilst in a moving car. There's a lot of detail in that mural. I see the star pattern of The Plough in the sky section and the horse is beautifully painted. I hope you can go back, park up and take another look.
