ANOTHER FAVORITE....

Another repeat from the old blog, definitely one of my favorites.  He's a beauty and was focused on catching up with his humans.

Thank you everyone who has left a comment.  It is taking me much longer to read and publish than usual.  Life is a bit busy again and I will answer all as soon as I can.

A story from my sister-in-law.  She was chatting to a neighbor this morning, of how much she liked lemons and had just planted a small tree.  A little while later she found several in a bag, waiting for her on the doorstep.  What a sweet neighbor.

When we were living near Long Beach in California, back in our navy days, the house we rented had a huge lemon tree in the back garden, with the most enormous lemons.  I had never seen one like it, loaded with them on every branch.  The scent was intoxicating.  I had only ever bought lemons in the supermarket.  How I wish I had that lemon tree now, but then we had better move to warmer climes.

  3. Hi Denise, what a lovely dog he looks as if he's just plodding along the beach and minding his own business. I didn't realise that Gregg was a Navy man, sorry. All the best John

    1. Hi John, this cute dog made me smile and I was so happy to get a photo of him before he disappeared out of sight, a good memory of his noble little body plodding down the beach. No apologies needed, I don't mention the old navy days too often. Seems like another lifetime ago now :) All the best to you too, Denise.

  5. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a lemon tree? Just recently, I tried Meyer Lemons for the first time, they are yummy. I am putting them in entrees, and pancakes and waffles. I LOVE this picture! He is adorable.

    1. It would, I would love it. I can't remember seeing Meyer's lemons labeled around here. Maybe I ought to pay extra special attention. Thanks Ginny.

  10. You are a busy lady. I am reminded of the old saying 'So much to do, so little time'. Gone are the days when I had fruit trees in the garden. I do have a couple of apple trees but they are past their best and the fruit is only fit for birds.

    1. Yes, he was having a hard time catching up but they were leaving him to all those wonderful smells on the beach, which I am sure kept him behind his humans. One way of hurrying him up I suppose :) We had heavy rain, high winds and hail today but thank goodness the sun is shining. Hopefully a good omen :)

  17. I had to leave my small potted lemon tree behind when we moved! It had been attacked by caterpillars every year and was barely making it, but I had ALWAYS wanted a lemon tree! Now, I suppose if I kept one in a greenhouse I might have one again. So many people in Tucson had huge ones in their yards...someone was harvesting as we stopped on the road to make a comment one day and they gave us seven or eight!

    1. Awww, too bad you had to leave it but it probably wouldn't have survived replanting? How very nice to be given those harvested lemons, people can be so kind.

  18. That's a sweet photo of the dog. My husband's late parents lived in FL and had lemon trees. They would share with us and we enjoyed them so much.
